does it teach you anything about arrangement/composition? IMO there's no better way to learn those two things than analyzing music you like. I agree but I feel I need a sort of.. jumping off point or something. I can engineer quite well. I know reason inside and out.. but I can't arrange worth a shit. To be honest maybe I never put an honest effort into it since I was such an alcoholic. But yeah my question remains mr mcbpete does it teach anything about composition? =)

YES! I think I posted that a few pages back though lol. Trying to find these in decent condition on vinyl but they're ridiculously expensive... Oh yeah. I think I remember that now. I have this 12". I think I got it for $10 at amoeba. no way?! That's a steal man! The cheapest on discogs are like 25$. I've seen them go up to 50$ for mint, which is quite a bit for a single I guess. I'm kind of sad the guy doesn't have more released because he was ahead of his time IMO... Do you know any other artists I might not know about that are this breaky? I don't know if you know of them or not, but Remarc, Bizzy B, Marvelous Cain, and Shy FX all kick out some sick shit similar to that. Those guys are big boys, tho. You've probably heard of all of them. I've got a lot of tunes by all those guys EXCEPT for Marvelous Cain... That's a new on for me! research time ;)

I never thought there were flutes lol I remember someone saying that but it didn't make sense to me. I still don't hear any flutes.. It really is an awesome song. At some points I can hear this really small detailed sine wave (about 2 seconds in length) that sounds like a tuning fork and that's where I get goosebumps. I don't know if it was intentional or just a byproduct of however they were using their synths.. but I like it.

For some reason at 1:55 of cold earth my whole body breaks out in goosebumps and I can feel it in my scalp and spine. Happens without fail every time... It's definitely doing something.
