Dopplereffekt's Isotropy (from Cellular Automata) - where do you guys here the 1? For me, the first two bass notes entering on 0:35 are placed one 16th after beat 4. The third bass note is on 1.

^^ wtf unbelievable. Like it popped out from another dimension. Thanks for sharing

The nasal bassline (the dubby one that is connected to the bass drum) brings to mind African music that involves donno drumming (talking drum, example here). Blows my mind every time. Also, my current favourite piece to listen to whilst running.

120bpm, hey? During the broadcast personally I only managed to locate the pulse towards the end, because if I'm not mistaken that's when the snare drum becomes more steady. I think of it as 12/8 or 4/4 in triplets

@jaderpansen: Man, I've learned with Ae how not to be too critical and just listen. If a piece strikes me emotionally, that's awesome; if not, I'll leave it for a later day. This particular piece is "sickeningly depressing" as thehauntingsoul said.

if that's the only depressing thing to you, it means that (to you) all other things about this track are not depressing (ie positive, good etc) - what are you saying again?

It did seem, mainly due to the 8-hour-long length, that this would be a landmark release. I'm listening to all end once more, with that thought in mind, and it's fucking beautifully depressing. In the last few years, most pieces were made out of crazy sounds, well formed vertical-lines across the frequency spectrum, now in the last track everything's flatlined.

Great question, would be interesting to have a separate thread about this. "Radio Autechre" is spot on. It's like a mini TV series. Perhaps Ae have taken into account today's TV/movie production and viewing tendencies (eg longer film durations, viewers binge-watching an entire new season in a weekend etc). Personally, I don't do playlist shuffle, I'd prefer to build my musical memory of a record by playing each session from start to finish as is.

lol at everyone who has speakers with a nonlinear frequency spectrelol at everyone with hearing damage in higher frequency range lol at everyone EQing/whatever-ing your setup to accommodate your room, speakers, system, or hearing is not comparable to "man this particular Autechre track I heard for the first time 3 days ago needs more kick drum." They crafted that track to sound exactly as it does.counterpoint: remixing any and all music in minor or major ways is fun and all y'all complaining about this are boringwho was complaining, I was memeing and laughing at y'all goofy asses. hence the lol, and the meme. u do u m9 "They crafted that track to sound exactly as it does" isn't a meme (yet) and doesn't sound like a joke but OK. You are referring to two different posts by the same user. The former is a meme and a joke, the latter is.. a different post This
