I've listened on two different sets of high-end heaphones, I'm sure that's only a minor factor. I didn't just say I'm not into it, I also gave a reason: I'm not seeing the clear and focused use of sounds and of structure that I am used to in my favorite aphex tracks. I am definitely getting aphex's interesting sound choices and all that loud and clear, but what I'm missing is how it's all put together. Can someone comment on this? There are specific things I like about all of aphex's music which are missing from this release. that's what kills me. This is pretty much how I feel. It seems the people that don't like it share the same reasons...

Take your time, maybe 20 other listening sessions will open you up to the charms of this album. Many other long-time Aphex fans love it. I know, I always did that. Some of it only got me after more than 20 listens. The difference is that usually did it because the track sounded weird or fast or too complex, this time it just bores me. Pretty much the same feeling I had with iradelphic.

I don't know, maybe he is trying something that I just don't understand. But I don't think it is the case...most tracks haven't done anything to me. How can it be if some of them were made at the same time as Rushup edge and analords were released and which I love? I do like some moments, the Metz track is definitely amazing but it overall it sounds wrong and by-the-book. Some melodies make me cringe, some parts go along unnecessarily, I think there are some mistakes he wouldn't do before...and I cant remember any mind-blowing moment. The track order doesn't make any sense, some tracks shouldn't be in there. On druqks the order was weird but it actually made sense.

I'm just messing with you! I respect your knowledge. Sorry if I have offended you. It isn't the first time though, it seems you have a hard time taking internet posts lightly....

So is this any good? I like most of his work but I saw the video promo of a track from this release on Grant's facebook and it sounded different, I read it's based on some mathematical shenanigans?

Thank you watmm. Now I'm going to think about all this shit the next time I hear the song - which is happening right now and all I can hear is compression and shit. I'm so glad I logged in today.

Joyrex manifests his enjoyment for this fleak. What does it mean?? It simply means I like the track - I don't dislike something just because it's a fake or whatnot... good music is good music, regardless of the intentions behind it. You won't fool me with your shenanigans

This one has potential...still, if it's out there then it is either official or fake sounds like a caustic window track. This one has potential...still, if it's out there then it is either official or fake This sounds like an LFO cover version done in Fruityloops with a few reverbed SAW1 vocally bits. Oh and a jarring, incongruous SH101 bit. Yall have mushrooms for ears. At first I thought it was shit but then I listened for a second time and now it sounds great

Some random guy posted it on reddit as the back cover, then it got posted here. Oscillik pointed out the old Warp logo thing. I donno if Joyrex has some inside info or he just didn't know it was posted by some random guy on reddit, but yeah, that's what happened. I'll say that it's one of the only fakes where I saw it and said "hmm, that could actually work". It's goofy. It's really well done. I'm sure joyrex knows something.

Honestly this badger artwork is miles away from the shitty official one. Based on what? If the music was good enough, it would have stood out anyway. After Windowlicker, pretty much anything he would have released, specially as "Aphex Twin", would have hit major news websites anyway. If Drukqs was put out on Rephlex as originally intended by them, and specially now Syro, everyone would have known about it, because it would have been all over the news anyway, and everyone has an internet connection these days. Everyone who's even vaguely into music knows and visits these sites regularly. But instead we have to cope with Warp continuing its legacy of shitty releases and a couple good releases while seeing how genuinely cool labels dissapear. IMO warp still has some weight as a household name. Even though I love rephlex and most of what come from it, the whole process of releasing an album of this magnitude is probably a lot easier for everyone involved if its done by Warp.
