Looks like it can support a rather high rate of sampling

I think...he was picking up an awful lot of shit though

  2. The latest (fourth) batch of downloads: http://we.tl/YJgMK1HifS

I've included all 55 tracks (Triple D - Nightmail), two of which weren't downloadable but I added the stream rip (128 kbps) of those in the batch.

    Thanks!

    Now, here's everything!

    https://mega.co.nz/#F!HMcAgABI!TXaiAlHSGTno2ki_TuoJPQ

"Cheetah7" in WAV, FLAC and 320CBR

"Throatie" in both mono and stereo MP3 (some devices can't play mono-channel MP3)

Includes the two tracks (#001 and #071) that MikeP massaged (EQ/limit)

Includes the no-fadeout version of "35 SAW II un road shimmer"

    Includes all JPGs

Includes all track descriptions in TXT

The four tracks only available in 128 streaming quality (#069, 099, 204, 222) are suffixed "_128.mp3"

    ID3 tag info:

ID3 tags were left alone as much as possible.

The "TITLE" tag contains the ORIGINAL title, not the modified titles on SoundCloud

The filename contains the modified SoundCloud titles

All tracks have their respective images embedded in ID3 tags.

For tracks that didn't have images, the ID3 tag image is the dark plum color @ 500x500 pixel

Five ID3 fields were copied to custom fields to preserve the original data Richard put in them.

Few new stories I hadn't spotted on there, apologies if old... on African Rhyt, Sekonda and Bellbrk

Nice! Man, I'd love that Pendulum gig released properly!

    Just for posterity:

    African Rhyt

Paul Guntrip RIP brought me&me mates attention to this mikey dread album with all the now famous samples, he used to drop them in over his dj set, amazing DJ, big inspiration, we were lucky down in the depths of cornwall to have him come down and play us stuff we probably never would have heard.

I gave him some of my VERY early demos that i havnt even given to anyone else or SC yet and he gave me some really useful crit, even though i was a bit hurt by it at the time, was a good kik

    Sekonda

Yes Steve Reich vibes 4 sure, was very interesting meeting him a couple of years ago, he REALLY wanted to release my Pendulum array re-work which was a huge compliment on nonsuch but i never got around to sorting it out...

Had an initial super good long conversation with him in Poland,

picked each others brains and kind of forget where we were..still got lots of things buzzing around inside my head from it..but then we said our goodbyes thinking we would probably never meet each other again but was really funny/odd because my girlfriend and I just KEPT bumping into him, party in a polish bar, around the festival, the airport lounge, transport bus, on the plane in the arrival lounge, it got really embarrasing, by the end I was like look im fucking sick of seeing your face mate! [ jokingly ]

    Bellbrk

    1989-91

used to swim in this lake when i was a kid, then one hot summer, farmers drained it and it was full of dead horses, cows, sheep, rusty bikes and cars...Carn Marth...wondered why the water tasted funny.

Not sure if it has been mentioned, but I noticed T08+4 has this in the ID3 comments tag

"T08+4 rx11,dr110,tx16w, RiDrum TK09,basimilus iteritas,bx20e,emt,,etc etc etc etc etc etc"

You know in Potter when Luna and Neville were the only ones to still check with DA coins?

I still check this page regularly...

All day every day my friend

Back in '95 I had to go to the computer lab to check Altavista and Yahoo and hyperreal.org for new info about aphex and print it out, so F5'ing these pages is easy

    Listservs FTW!

Also, separate thought here- quite a few of these rips sound great, some even in the 128kbs stream. I'm thinking about which would benefit most from remastering; there's a few that I think would really come to life.

And furthermore, some I think just wouldn't! Some of the older tracks like Sams Car and Chink 101 sound perfect as is, can't imagine they could be improved much from proper mastering.

Heliosphan Live is a good example too. It has to be one of my most-loved tracks of everything he's ever done, but I'd be reluctant to put it in my Top 20/40 if the 320k copy Richard let us download is essentially the same file he played on the '97 tour, as that is probably as good as that track was meant to sound.

  6. No matter what you do, the "easy listening mode" will win the poll anyway so as I said, prepare for the next SAW album...

20 tracks is not enough to expect some diversity in selections, maybe two groups of tracks would do, the first one for casuals and the second for people who also love his experimental/hardcore stuff....

    Agreed...

Also, let us not forget that this isn't an authoritative poll - Richard has veto powers, so winners might still lose. What if everyone got to vote for their top 40, knowing everyone else's top 40 will only have 20 winners max? Musical chairs style - more winners than trophies - maybe that would reduce incentive to vote with the majority. This would give Richard a richer dataset (pun intended) to work with, and he surely has some of his personal favorites in mind already. If some of his favorites are not in the top 20 and their votes are skewed extremely low, it would be hard to know which of those the fans really do like.

  7. I think given the spirit of the whole ongoing series of events thus far, openness and interactivity has been working out pretty well across the board. The secondary rating idea is cool - if nothing else, kind of a way to say "Hey Rich, I know these trax don't have a chance in hell but... dayum!"
