  1. So there is this "conspiracy game" going on, that every album has somewhere in title or elswhere hidden which one is it in the row of AE-albums. So... which one is NTS Sessions 1-4? Yes, I know, it should be the 13th (and the cat number 364 adds up to that), BUT: on the cover is a very big 14... and I have this funny theory... there is athing call triskaidekaphoebia, the fear from the numer 13... you know, why there is no 13th floor in hotels and so on. And AE has one album that's uncounted: AE_LIVE. So it could be, that it's uncounted in regards of elseq 1-5 (so elseq is the 12th) but it's counted in regards of NTS, so we have now the 14th. And voila, there is no 13th album!
  2. I bought ep7 as it came out in 1999. It became quickly one of my favourite records. 2 years later there was an article in a magazine for electronic music about Ae, with an overlook of the discography. I read it, and then I came to a passage where the pre-gap hidden track was mentioned. That blew my mind: I had this CD for years, heard it countless times, and it still had a track I didn't heard yet. That was kinda funny.
  3. I don't have a problem with it, when somebody has this associations - that's subjective. If this is your association, who am I to question it? Personally I have relatively seldom picture associations to any music, and if, they vary from my personal mood. This morning (it was almost dawn yet) as I was listening to Session 4, to all end I saw a seeshore, with huge waves breaking on the cliffs. It's cliché too, but it fitted the music, I was enjoying it. But I know, the music isn't "about" the ocean, and I could have any other assiciations too. Perhaps I will in the future. But if in a review this is the only way, somebody tries to descibe a music (it's a hard job, I know), then I find it a bit lazy. Because it's only a subjective association, and says more about the person, who has this assiciations, as from the music itself, you know? All I want to say: this pictures don't help to descibe or to comprehend the music - at least not for me.
  4. I had the feeling that in all end are bits of endings of many tracks. In the background white noise could hide even "all ends"...
  5. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/lists/best-albums-to-stream-now-janelle-monae-autechre-and-more-w519628 I don't like these cyber-spaceship-horror metaphors for the music of Ae. For me there is nothing sci-fi-like in it.
  6. The penultimate track ("city lights") is my absolute favourite. The modulations in the middle section are just fuckin crazy!
  7. This Aepril was really great, and the session 4 was the perfect ending for me. I don't have the words for the awesomeness of this 8 hours.
