  1. Of course it added! It lead for example to this discussion. What is this if not an addition?
  2. You're totally right. Sorry.I have to disagree. "Means most to me" doesn't equal "best". "Best" and "worst" are qualitative criteria, "means most" a sentimental one. The very different lists in the thread show that most of us have only sentimental lists (me including, but I've stated this right front), and the reason is that the musical quality is thoroughly exceptional high in the discography. On a quality-based list can be agreed, and it can remain unchanged. A sentiment-based one can change whitin minutes, and is different for everybody. So I get it, when someone refuses to stick to his present variation. In case of the mentioned fire he would just pick what at the moment is most valueable for him. But if the fire comes a week later he would likely pick another one.
  3. Don't swallow whole, it's a lot to digest. I don't think I could order autechre albums like this. I mean I think some I could, but mostly they all speak time in different ways. People not counting album length EPs here? I mean EP7 I totally think of as an album. Move Of Ten feels more like 2 EPs tho, but that may only be cos I have it on vinyl. My mistake, you said whale. Don't swallow it whale either. Yeah. I meant whale. Like in AE_LIVE is as big as a whale. :) You must consider everything till (and including) Confield was already known by me, I just sold everything back then, and now I just re-purchased all this. But still, I feel, that it is a lot. Specially for Utilted, Draft and elseq I will need more time. But I'm glad I have them in the collection. I think of EP7 too as of an album, and Move of Ten is kinda Oversteps Part 2 for me.
  4. For me all Autechre albums are the best, so my list is not a best-to-worst, but a favourite list. I mean only triggered by my emotional connection to the album. 1. Chiastic Slide 2. EP7 3. "LP5" 4. NTS Sessions 1-4 5. Oversteps/Move of Ten 6. Quaristice 7. Confield 8. Tri Repetae 9. elseq 1-5 10. Amber 11. Draft 7.30 12. Incunabula 13. Untilted I doesn't included Exai, because I still don't own it (should be changed for next week) and only listened to it superficially on the subway in mp3 through the phone. AE_Live is missing also, I need to find the time to swallow that whale...
  5. At first reading I liked the idea of the pitchfork review, that which each album Autechre sounds more Autechre. But on the second thought it's just good-sounding bullshit with no real meaning. It was always 100% Autechre.
  6. I'm a big fan of the Fuller's brewery. Right now i'm drinking the Indian Pale Ale for the first time. The best IPA I ever had.
  7. Deep cuts on yt announced that a review of NTS is in the works, that could be better.
  8. And how about this? "Elseq 1-5, a five EP digital-only box set" EP! :O PS. The "digital box set" is something I have to imagine yet.
  9. You joined a cult? What kind of cult was that if you don't mind explaining, sounds like an interesting story. Of course you don't have to say anything, but I'm curiousNot a 'real' cult, but kinda. I don't know if you ever heard about 'transcendential traditionalism' - is based on some books back from the 40s and 50s, written by these guys René Guénon and Julius Evola and that kind of stuff. So there was this little group of traditonalists and I got into it, found it interesting and so on.And this Guénon guy had this theory that the world is getting far from a desired state of Tradition, and blamed renaissance for it. (Now it sounds ridicolous for me, but then I digged it.) So to be consequent we tried to abbandon a lot of stuff that represented the "modern spirit" - inculding art, so music also. I didn't really joined the group hereafter, was always more individual, but it took time for me to shook off the impact. Hmm, okay. Weird what ideas can doYep. The 20th century showed this too. :/I'm glad I have this behind me.

  11. I've found this old topic... I'm quite new here, so let me introduce myself: I've first listened to Autechre back in spring 1998 as a friend of mine chose Rettic Ac and Tewe as soundtrack for a school-project film. I fell immediately in love with this music, and the same summer I bought Chiastic Slide and some months later LP5 too. I listened to many Warp artists and other electronic music for the following couple of years, but my favs were Autechre and Squarepusher. Some years later I joined some kind of cult, and I was kinda forced to abandonned this music and sell all my CDs. After that I listened only to early classical music, which I still love. I got out from this cult luckily and tried to find back my way to the things I love. The time to rediscover Autechre come a few months ago, I pirated some albums down, and listened to it on my phone sometimes. After some time I knew that I still love this music, so I've decided to buy them all. At this time only Exai is still missing, but should arrive this week. And there was a strange coincidence: end of March I bought my first Autechre CDs, Chiastic Slide (again) and Oversteps. In April I bought several other Ae CDs, and just a week later NTS Sessions were announced on the Ae-store! The same time I find back to Autechre a new album is released!
  12. These are great! Would you mind sending/uploading a pdf with accurate size? I'd like to do a printout and have them as well! I've sent a pm!

    Custom made elseq CD covers.
  17. I used to like Phonem. Quite similar to earlier (Chiastic Slide era) AE, perhaps a bit more melodic. (Or was at least around 2000, I don't know about his recent stuff).
  18. Splesh is structurally great. It's a bicinium with an ostinato melody and the other voice play around it, sometimes bellow like a bass or above like melody or keeps the harmonic bass-structure but plays above and vice-versa. Even alters the rhythmic feel a lot of times and so on. There is a lot of contrapunctic play going on. For the finale a third voice is joining in for great effect.
  19. We listen to IDM, we are per definitionem intelligent, so we never be retarded. Peace.
  20. Imagine them on that Kaspar David Friedrich painting with the man on the cliff :D
  21. https://noisey.vice.com/amp/en_us/article/9k5qdd/idm-was-the-romanticism-of-the-new-millennium There it is. Fuck smartphones.
  22. BTW. That romanticism-theory is not new. I'm on the way and lazy to look up, but there was an article in english that 90s IDM was a new romanticism.
  23. I find this review a bit funny because it's so overly (pseudo-)academic. 30% is a historical outline of romanticism of questionably accuracy. The author obviously tries to sound smart and educated by using unusual words but doesn't really get to the point, e.g. piloerection instead of boner Sorry, I'm new here. Are you the sarcastic guy? Or do you really need a definition of piloerektion? Alright, piloerection is skin tingling. But there are many other examples in this review that make it sound like a seminar paper from a college freshman Yeah, that's the funny part. The lengthy descibing of l3 ctrl as a space map is even more "forced" - but funny. And he does that with respect to the music, so it's cool for me.
