  1. I just saw that Objekt is playing in my hometown ... on August 24 ... when I'm in Paris. A bit gutted, but hey, Aphex > Objekt still, right?
  2. This forum seems like just the place for nerdy music posts.
  3. Stereolab -- Switched On Volumes 1--3 (Remastered) Stereolab -- Transient Random-Noise Bursts With Announcements (Remastered Expanded Edition) Must-haves IMO. The remasters seem to be okay; everything sounds a bit more upfront, making them sound more like a "shoegaze" band, if that makes sense. Could all be due to loudness, though, what do I know. Ah, you picked the "synthesizer" era. Very IDM of you! Yeah, I dunno, sometimes they're incredibly cheesy and theatrical in a broadway musical rather than an opera way (then again, I went to see Manowar this year, and boy, they got this shit turned up to 11), but there's one song on almost every album that's just undeniably great. My personal favorites are "Revelations" (off Piece of Mind) and "Hallowed Be Thy Name" (off The Number of the Beast). I usually prefer synthetic sounds, but there's something in the melodic guitar parts that is just so yummy ... And yeah, artwork is killer. Would wear T-Shirt in a semi-ironic fashion.
  4. Iron Maiden -- Brave New World (2015 Remaster). Sort of a guilty pleasure ...
  5. Hot Chip -- A Bath Full Of Ecstasy. My least favorite album of theirs so far, but still decent.
  6. Ah, right, almost forget about that ND_Baumecker collab, but I remember I liked that as well. Gonna have to search my HDD for it to have another listen in preparation for his new album. Thanks for the reminder!
  7. Yeah, he's a good 'un. If you like his stuff, make sure to check out Klutae as well (used to be spelled "Klute", but he changed it to avoid being mixed up with the Drum 'n' Bass artist of the same name). Still smashin' after almost 30 years (as well as the whole Explicit EP btw). Curiously enough, when I just googled the video, I learned that he apparently formed an "industrial supergroup" called Die Klute with Jürgen Engler from Die Krupps and Fear Factory's Dino Cazares in 2018. The debut album also functions as OST to a horror movie starring William Shatner, no less. Go figure.
  8. Leather Strip/Klutae Esplendor Geométrico Sielwolf
  9. I've thought about the Aphex Exciter before, but honestly, I'm just not a fan of the "rack" look.
  10. I love her Colombi Sequence work. Level 17 was ace.
  11. So I'm trying to decide between the regular and the UP! version; I don't care if I have to wait in line, and I'm not particularly interested in the 'Square' they mention, whatever that may be, but what makes gives me pause is this: Un espace réservé proche de la Grande Scène pour profiter des shows au maximum So, if that actually means a special access (aka potentially less crowded) area right in front of the stage, that would tempt me and might actually be worth the €30,- premium. Could a french native speaker or someone who has been to the festival before kindly confirm this? Many thanks in advance! Edit: I assume Richard will play at the 'Grande Scène' ...
