  1. while polls are cool and all, I really hope that no-one will take the results of this poll as any kind of evidence that shows the general climate towards this album, for reasons that should be blatantly obvious. What reason should be blatantly obvious? Looking at the poll right now I can see the majority of votes being in the 7+ range whilst there's still a substantial in the 4- region. I do think the majority will be in the upper regions but I suppose you think that's to be expected because it's mainly boc fans making their vote known and chance is high they'll give a good rating. Anyway I do think the poll will still give an accurate insight in what the boc fan twoism community / WATMM BoC subforum really thinks about TH. edited for emphasis. fact is - your site has the most notoriety with fans that are, shall we say, a bit obsessive with regard to BoC. hence the results will be skewed, and as such cannot scientifically be regarded as evidence of anything other than the consensus of opinion between a niche of obsessive listeners.

  3. I'm not trolling. a non BoC release that blows Tomorrow's Hype out of the water. Autechre - Exai VHS Head - Persistence of Vision Ben Frost - A U R O R A Phono Ghosts - Chrome Position (not even an album and it kicks the shit out of TH) Meatbingo - Trendy Robots (not even an album and it kicks the shit out of TH) there's a few.
  4. nah, I'm just being a bit cynical that's all. I have to admit, I've not listened to this album since I got a much much better audio interface (previously using built in motherboard soundcard for digital listening, and my turntable set up for analogue) and I should really give it a chance listening through the new interface. I will soon probably, it's just I'm a pretty attentive listener (my allegiances on the forum should show that), and I never really noticed the depth you're referring to. Although, it is present on Semena Mertvykh which is actually my favourite track on the whole album. I wish they'd have done a whole album that had that desolate sound to it. I can see you're slowly turning - before long I'll be the only one left. nah, I'm pretty sure my opinion will still be the same. but I'll try it on my new audio interface, for science.

  6. you can only hear it if you are listening to the 24bit wavs though. and only with Grado headphones. played through a valve tube amp. whilst outside. on the pentland hills. with a cult.
  7. a year and a half later, and this is still fucking brilliant.
  8. you didn't pay for a download though. you misunderstand kickstarter.

  10. it's a caustic window release, as expected it's not ae level As good as previous Caustic Window and Polygon Window. It's a quality rip. revpok is insanely good, my god. oh yeah, it's a quality rip, but there were comments from some people about DSD quality fucking come on, it's caustic window... I guess people REALLY wanna hear that crunch gonna be that guy -- DSD doesn't provide any advantages over PCM. 16-bit 44.1kHz is all we need. As far as the sound quality (for the transfer itself) goes, A1 (towards the beginning) was the only track in which I could hear any notable surface noise. The rest (that I've heard) sounded almost completely transparent. the whole 16bit 44.1kHz argument isn't really something I wanna get into here, but I'll say this much - for this material, it's more than adequate.

  12. I think the surprise was probably the names edit from the kickstarter email: You'll notice the tracks now have names - Richard decided it was proper for them to have names, so he dug in his archives and got the track names from the original recordings and provided names for them. There are some great tracks on this release, so I think as a fan we are really lucky to get to hear these gems at long last.
