Recently deleted TikTok. Started using it because I like to be caught up with whatever novelty the world's revolving around to. At first it was confusing, then it was quite fun, mostly young people used it so you could see what shenanigans kids were up to and be a spectator to their inside jokes/memes and such. It was quite a positive place, there was rarely any hate to be found. Actually gave me hope about the future of the world seeing kids being zero tolerant to hate and trolling just enjoying themselves without trying to make fun of or put down one another. Then the pandemic hit, TikTok grew and everybody started joining, political content started popping op, comercial interests, people trying to become viral, tons of idiots actually becoming famous, and developing audiences that hang to their every word. and whatever recommendation algorithm they have over there is next level, shit is supper addictive. anyway, I started spending way too much time on it and realized all it was bringing up in me was anger. So I deleted it. But it kind of sucks how 'grown ups' ended up taking over a fun space kids were having fun in and polluted it with narcissism.

Rings of power dropping in quality fast whereas house of the dragon steadily raising the stakes. I'm particularly bothered how in RoP they had to insert a "fun" action adventure sequence every few beats to keep the pace going.

I think you guys are overanalyzing it. Chimp thing is just a red herring to keep you guessing about the nature of the plot while keeping the theme of trained/tamed animals (like the prank in the barn or the dude in the bike), and while there's some self indulge to be criticized I found no social commentary that was obvious when watching, so you'd have to be trying hard to find it, instead of just taking things in. This is more Spielberg than Spike Lee. Just relax and enjoy the ride.

So I'm binge reading the sandman series after watching the show. Currently burning through a kindle unlimited trial. Any stuff I should get before it's over? On my to read list: -from hell - Alan Moore's swamp thing run Stuff I've already read at some point: Transmetropolitan Dark knight trilogy Probably some other stuff

I miss being able to do this stuff without going into anxiety attacks. Anyone suffered from this and got over it? I can't even do it alone in the comfort of my own home within going in a downward spiral of shitty thoughts.

I went to a cozy (very small, but very good) cocktail bar last time I visited. I think it's been remodeled since but the owner is the same so probably still worth a visit. Great drinks and ambiance they serve auteur cocktails. Name is Kyoudai 33. On Calle Rocafort 33. Just checked their IG and apparently they're changing location, last day is Aug 29th.

What do y'all think about the show's attention to image composition, do you find it cheesy or artsy?, is it gonna age well? I find it a bit blunt and while it doesn't hurt the show I don't think it adds a lot to it other than gain some points with the pretentious crowd.

The sandman It's all over the place, sometimes interesting sometimes embarrassing, achieving unintentional doctor who levels of camp sometimes. After the first story is done (which I liked) it loses all purpose. The level of 'diversity' in casting and characters does stick out. I'm not familiar with the source material but I feel it misses an opportunity to weave the whole season into a overarching plot and make it more engaging and consistent throughout.

I'm not that crazy about this last arc. That scene in the phone booth where we don't know what's being said or not is kind of a cheap move imo. Prediction: Gene turns himself in and asks Kim to represent him. Or maybe that's what he asked on that call and she refused.

Dunno, isn't all of the danger gone? What other loose ends are there? Should be mostly fallout from now on and catching up to Jimmy on the present they haven't addressed that since the last season.
