Can't believe I didn't think to post this here yet - it's pretty much the IDM of metal, or at least as close to it as I think I've heard. Norwegian jazz band, Shining, recently took a big musical turn and started making extreme jazzy experimental metal. Shit's really good though, very abstract and extremely heavy. And furthermore, some I think just wouldn't! Some of the older tracks like Sams Car and Chink 101 sound perfect as is, can't imagine they could be improved much from proper mastering.

Avid acrid jam shred would be in my top five all time Aphex tracks. It's brilliant. Oh mine too, definitely. I think it's one of the high points in electronic music history! But I like Rough Beat Tune for the same reasons, such a gorgeous buildup.

Rough Beat Tune needs more love! I've listened to that one more than any other I think. It's basically an alternate Acrid Avid Jam Shred!

The AFX Selekta playlist has most all of my favorite tracks in it! Love it. The playlists are going to make digesting all this new music a lot easier.

I recall him uploading some odd, extra-obscure track (or maybe it was a mix of tracks) way back when the SC started. Was it something off the old Tuss MySpace? I think it had 'Rephlex' in the title. Someone here remembers what I'm talking about!

Yeah I've always wanted to get into High On Fire, I'm huge into stoner metal, just never given em enough time I guess. Which album should I get first? Also just started listening to Pharaoh Overlord, if anyone here has heard em. Mega hypnotic droning stoner riffs, I love it. Them and Acid King can nail that mesmerizing, zoned-out sensation like none other. "Like riding a motorcycle on quaaludes", as Lori would say.
