  1. On 1 1 is, are those plucked guitar strings (or other stringed acoustic instrument) that enter the mix at around 5:11? Do you ever deconstruct parts from old tracks and incorporate them into new tracks? I remember when I first heard Quaristice there were moments where I thought I recognized bits from older tracks, but in an entirely new context (a cool idea idea I thought). A good example would be the parallels between Fol3 and Rettic AC --I'm very curious if any of the same source material was used. In the second half of vekoS, is the breathy atmosphere in the background a paulstretched reverb (or paulstretched anything)?
  2. It wasnt unusual to spend time in the wet bleak grey green wide open low cloud spaces when i was a kid, dotted with out of use two hundred year old utility works on the border from lancs/yorks, and growing up not far from there feels like it had a bearing on things we do. Haha, am still waiting for the method of transport. I mentioned I was walking, roughly 35 minutes each way. I'll probably be listening on my smart phone, through Sony MDR-V700s --decent bass and clarity. The weather will likely be cold and cloudy, with a chance of rain.
  3. What is the fattest beat you've ever heard? Could anything have made it even fatter? What should I name the track I'm going to start tonight/tomorrow? It's got to fit on an album comprised largely of intense ambient pieces. What is your favorite Coil track or release? (Also, I'm still hoping for that music-to-listen-to-while-walking-to-the-studio-on-Tuesday recommendation, but otherwise that Residents album mentioned earlier shall serve me nicely... just heard the track Shorty's Lament and fell in love.)
  4. Its been a long time since a scrabble, What method of transport are u planning to use? I will be walking, takes about 35 minutes... longer if the music's really good.
  5. Are you big into Scrabble? If so, what was your highest scoring bingo? What should I listen to on my way to the studio this Tuesday afternoon?
  6. 1. You meet a traveler from another world who has no knowledge of music from Earth (aside from the ae discog, obviously). What three albums do you show them? 2. Tell a joke. Thanks for all the inspiration!
  7. I'm always covered in cat fur. The reply box is adding what is most likely an illusion of there being a tab space before each of these sentences. *edit: the tab space is real, and inexplicable, and I'm afraid of what I don't understand.
  8. Just got back from getting some work done at the dentist and my motherfucking cheeks are numb... but it's wearing off a little and there's also an aching sensation, so I've got the worst of both worlds.
  9. I'm actually applying at places for a part time job. :(
  10. Cheers all! May we all eat soup together some day.
  11. This has nothing to do with Hesitation Marks, but I was on the bus tonight and a man with a big beard sat down in front of me. So naturally a parody of Big Man With A Big Gun appeared in my head entitled Big Man With A Big Beard. And what do big men with big beards do? They like to eat soup. I felt I should write it down for posterity somewhere and this seemed like the most appropriate spot: (be forewarned, it's pretty stupid)
  12. Shiiiiit.... thought I already fixed the url on my sig! It's https://solipsisband.bandcamp.com/ Thanks for the interest! This is really amazing! Reminds me of my favourite songwriter in the world, and good friend, Luke: https://soundcloud.com/turningviolet Thanks for the kind words! I've got another album almost complete, this time with a full band and name change: Speak In Tongues. The plan is to release it on New Years day as a pay-what-you-want bandcamp release. This Turning Violet guy does seem to be drawn to a lot of the same chord changes and feels that I am. Can't go wrong with minors and diminisheds! And then just when your audience is on the brink of depression, throw 'em a swing rhythm. I like it!

  14. lol, wow. How are people like that made? Haha, amazing. I'm on E, went home from a party, girlfriend's too tired to stay up, I'm posting on watmm... what the hell is wrong with me.
  15. Heheh, this is the reason I never post there. There's been many a time where I've thought "I must share this tune I'm currently listening to with the wattm." Then I remember I have to listen critically to something else first in order to participate, so I don't.
  16. I put too much water in my coffee. On the bright side, there's more coffee.
  17. It's good in the sense that it allows me to enjoy life a lot more, not worrying about this and that. But because I don't worry about anything I don't end up preparing for the future. I never come up with a plan b because I'm never worried about plan a failing. If it does, that's future me's problem --he'll find a way (ha!). I know I should be a lot more concerned about that. Like, even though I believe I will probably be fucked financially in the future... the seriousness of that realization never really sinks in the way it ought to. Maybe it's due to the unpredictability of the future. If I don't know with near certainty that something bad's going to happen, I am unable to fear it. This is not a good survival trait to have. I know I'd be more successful if I focused more on what's ahead and planned things accordingly. It's just difficult for me to do that seriously... plus I tend to get distracted by whatever interests me in the present. (ie. why am I contemplating this now when I could be on a walk listening to Analord?)
  18. I'm caught in a sleep-in cycle and have not been as productive as I'd like as a result. Also, I've only had one recording session this month and don't quite have enough money to pay my half of the rent... I should be far more worried than I am. Worrying's a good incentive to keep on top of things, and I just don't have any of it. Is there such a thing as anxiety pills? I'm sure something like that would be a useful motivator for me. I need to be more concerned for my future.
  19. The winter has made me crave noise and metal music, but that random Fact magazine article threw me into the Aphex Twin discography vortex and I am stuck there for another couple weeks at least. Tons of noisy net releases are accumulating on my hard drive in the meantime, all unheard.
  20. The hockey cards I collected as a kid are worthless.
  21. Both my portable listening devices stop randomly. My smart phone is the worst because it also interjects with "SAY A COMMAND" at twice the volume as the music (unless it's Clark, in which case it's half the volume). The other device is my discman, and I swear blowing on the CD actually helps the problem most of the time. Bit of an embarrassing procedure though. Oh yeah, and the program I use for making electronic music freezes regularly when I'm editing tracks. I have to save save save, but I tend to get lost in my work and forget. In short, everything involving technology and music sucks.
  22. This! I've thought about making a thread about it for months now, but I never get around to it. So I heard! Bits of my molar keep chipping off, and now it has sharp edges. It's kind of horrifying.
  23. Got another good one from earlier today. I saw Squarepusher - Selection 16 at a music store for under $3, so i bought it without batting an eye, thinking it was one of the couple SP releases I didn't have. Turns out I was wrong about that bit. So I unwittingly bought another thing twice, again (it's a recurring theme in my life. Luckily the second time is usually for an insanely good deal. i could probably sell my duplicates for a profit.)
