I’m trying to learn the process of basic mastering with Audacity, but it is a learning curve. Anyone experienced with that? @Soloman Tump?

Just teaching myself really, mainly using the graphic EQ, filter curve and the built in envelope tools.  I can do pretty much everything with just those.

I have mixed results with the included compressor so tend not to use it so often although it can do the trick for simpler tracks.   So I sometimes open up FLStudio and use Maximus which is the powerful 3-band compressor.

  2. Meanwhile, in India, whilst I sit here typing away from the comfort of my home.....

India's holiest river, the Ganges, has been swollen with bodies in recent days.

Hundreds of corpses have been found floating in the river or buried in the sand of its banks. Those who live close to where they have washed up, in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, fear they are Covid-19 victims.

India has been overwhelmed by a devastating second wave of the pandemic in recent weeks. It has recorded more than 25 million cases and 275,000 deaths, but experts say the real death toll is several times higher.

The bodies on the river banks, taken together with funeral pyres burning round-the-clock and cremation grounds running out of space, tell the story of a death toll unseen and unacknowledged in official data.

ya heard? divorced childfucker gates had frozen pizza yesterday! never gonna touch dat shit again!

you'll need more of that if you reject the vaxx, believe me. i don't see why knee-jerk scepticism against everything remotely "mainstream" would be considered more "free" of a thinking than the opposite. now if you please im gonna enjoy this O2.

    covid-19 is infectious.

Agreed. Euthanasia is a personal choice. It does affect your friends and family but it doesn't kill them too.

Non covid vaccination then infection and subsequent spread because you haven't done everything possible to limit spread is selfish.

I pay taxes too! The NHS is there for many reasons as well as covid, and I hope they can get back to concentrating on other things very soon once the preventable spread of covid is under control.

hope there's a jab for cure to cancer soon! Sign me up!

  4. The "indian" variant is starting to take hold here in the UK in a number of towns - although since a majority of adults are now vaccinated it should have minimal effect on the general populous.  Waiting to see full results from the labs on how this variant reacts with the jabs on offer.

What has become clear though is that the majority of patients hospitalised with this variant in areas like Bolton and Bradford (and London!) are unvaccinated, and have recent links to travel to India / Pakistan.  Why we have allowed open travel to/from India for so long is anyones guess - I could have bought a ticket to travel to India but technically not been allowed to drive to Wales!

Its a tricky political / racial card - but it is becoming increasingly clear that the certain ethnic groups who are staying clear of the vaccine (for the many different reasons) will bare the full force of whatever this variant brings to the uk.

Vaccines are readily available to EVERYONE in the areas affected now, so if you don't want the jab but are happy for the NHS to bail you out, that is selfish.

Wow ... two Indian cities on #1 and #2. Didn't expect that. London on the list is not surprising (pretty sure the UK was the worldwide #1 before China overtook them. Like you say: legacy knowledge).

Pretty standard.  The English do something first in a clumsy R&D kinda way then china copies it in a bigger more profitable fashion ?

Having my first jab on Thursday! Then going camping for 2 nights - hopefully minimal side effects otherwise ill just be laying around in my tent feeling sad.

  6. Got my first jab booked in for next Thursday! And second jab booked for start of August. So glad.

So all being well, I will be fully Vaxx'd before heading off to Houghton Festival for 4 nights of music and people mid August ?

Yep. Running Time for the original (a real banger!) was 63:45 so I guess you'll miss around 20 mins. As far as I can remember there was no suitable point for a fade in/out. Will the purchase of the vinyl/digital give you download of the original set, or the new album-fit set?

Yeah that's what is putting me off.  Original stream was great.  I would rather just sit this £20 wax out and wait for a digital via bandcamp or something.  CD makes much more sense to me if he wants a physical release for it.

  8. I use instagram a bit.  The increasing number of ads is getting ridiculous.  As if they dont already make enough money from it!

I see that as a bare minimum necessary evil for maintaining contact with some friends and family, and also really useful for music / zine connections.

I nuked my facebook account 5 years ago and have never once regretted or missed it.

This pedal gives me instant Butthole Surfers vibes ... What kind of stuff u planning on putting thru it ?

Im working on a dark ambient / doom sludge release to coincide with some lush death horror folklore art.... pedal bought specifically for the project! Hope it does what I want it to do!

  10. Whilst Steve Davis is known as Mr Boring in the snooker world .. he's actually quite interesting! I've seen him do a Q&A at a modular synth show a few years ago. He lived in Sheffield and learned about idm from the original warp records shop. He's a big fan of Autechre and presumably the pusher too. This should actually be really interesting

The videos for these are super sexy.  Who doesn't love the preset gliiidddeeee

They know how to charge for them though.

I just had a GAS rage and bought one of these.  Ordered from Norway 2pm yesterday and DHL had it with me in Devon by 2pm today, unbelievable service.

Its an arrhythmic delay with additional send-receive feedback loop so you can get some really funky ambience and messed up sounds.  Can't wait to dive deep with this one.

  12. I started watching Aquaman.

It was very pretty with some great underwater CGI bits including Atlantis.  Some cool punch ups, a bit more "in your face"action than I was expecting.  Pretty cool.

    But.....

It was way too long.  I though the film was about to finish then I noticed there was like another 50 minutes to go? ffs.  Anyway,. I stopped watching.  I might watch the end another night.

And so with that in mind, when I eventually get around to watching Justice League, I will watch it in the chapters.

  13. Here is episode 3:

Episode 4 is currently going out live.  Its very trippy and bleepy- quite a departure from what you would normally expect from Nick / Ekoplekz.  On his insta page he has been playing with an 0-coast and that feels evident here....

Ep4 linky. I like how the art is changing a bit each time, as each show feels like a slight departure / iteration from the last.  Great stuff.
