Really, what it is about this album I like is the melodies. The chaotic madness of the song structures, the splicing of styles often not associated with each other, the garish genres included in the mix - all fine, interesting, fascinating, but at heart Garden of Delete is a really beautiful record, and that's what drew me to it. It took a while - my initial response was very much "what the fuck are all these sounds and why are they together?" but reading so much about it made me go back to it a few times and once I was used to the sound of the album I could appreciate the compositional elements, and suddenly bam. Yeah, really beautiful album.

You've heard it, right? It's only vaporwave by the loosest of associations. I love most of what HKE puts his hands to, you can really hear his love of dubstep and stuff in there, lots of deep bass. His solo stuff has quite a Burial vibe at times too. Might have to get this as I've probably about worn my tape copy out, ha. New 2814 dropping later in the year too, can't wait,

Totally wouldn't be surprised if HKE or 2814 got the job of scoring some futuristic sci-fi in the next few years.

Thematically a lot of vaporwave is heavily based around America and Japan so I decided to do some very British vaporwave. Yeah, I was really surprised when I heard it on Soundcloud earlier, wasn't what I was expecting at all. Really good though.

I really hate the word ironic when it comes to vaporwave. Somehow seems to suggest that it's a 'so bad it's good' thing, people only like it because of what it references rather than for what it is. Some people seem to be uncomfortable with anything that consciously references something else and thus presume it must only be liked ironically. I like vaporwave because I think it sounds nice, and find some of the concepts it explores intriguing. Why the fuck would I spend my time being into something 'ironically'?

The first track off Birth of a New Day was uploaded to the Dream Catalogue Soundcloud today to promote the vinyl issue and it's had over 13,000 plays already.

When the new 2814 drops it's going to be crazy. I wonder how many copies it'll be? There's definitely a hype now. The 2xLP edition of the second album is set to go in a few weeks, a thousand fucking copies!
