The trials of building the haven

SO me and two friends are building a spiritual haven in the forest to be guided by the fractalline force of nature's will. We picked a spot on this creek out in the woods off of google maps, and then set out to it. Funny enough, without knowing where we were going, we arrived at it very easily after tromping through soggy woods, and it was perfect, everything about it was tailored to our expectations. Later that day, as I sat with my friend in "the shack" as we were talking a strange feeling of centeredness came over both of us. It was most definitely an altered mindstate, one of calm, but intense motivation, a feeling that we were doing "it" right.

The next day we gathered some of our surplus wood (that we'd collected from the dump) and loaded it into the truck and brought the canoe, and late at night set out to find the spot on the creek. As we drifted down the creek, my friend saw a piece of ice (the creek has just thawed) in the water that was a face. It looked exactly like a face in the water looking back at us...I wasn't sure what to make of it. Anyways, we had to navigate around some harsh currents and blocks in the stream (about 3 times we had to lift the canoe out of the water and onto the bank, wood and everything). Finally we got to our site, but just as we were coming into the bank we got stuck on a submerged tree. We tried to break free, but suddenly we started taking on water. In several seconds the canoe had sunk and I was thrown underwater (this water was most probably just above freezing). I instinctually grabbed onto something, and made my way to the bank. For a moment I thought I was going to drown, or not be able to bring my already numbing body out, but I did, miraculously. I then grabbed an oar and helped my friend onto the bank (he was stuck on the tree). I took off my clothes (they'd weight me down) and wonderfully, my cell phone was working so I called a friend to get ready to pick us up.

So then we had to walk through ten minutes of the wet woods, and then twenty minutes down a railroad track until we finally got picked up. I'm alright, but a tiny part of one of my toes has less feeling. Also I'm covered with really bad-ass scratches.

none of that would have happened if you played some Boards of Canada to please the forest Gods

camp at the site overnight, wake up bright and early, soak in the glory of a beautiful morning and then strip naked, get in the water, up to your neck, and take a poop.

i know plenty of people from my hometown who died from drinking and canoing, or drinking and swimming...you're really lucky you didn't drown, i would have been totally freaking out.

its ridiculous actually, how much philosophy stands behind this project, it would take hours to explain it.

please do

On a very basic level, I am trying to find a place where I can artificially initiate my mind into a state of not-believing in time, forgetting all the linear qualities placed on this "life" I occupy. And in the relaxing of time constraints, I wish to embrace a certain sense of spirituality, an older, more chaotic form, try and build a bridge to the divine alien, try and feel my ancient genes, prepare myself mentally for what ever may be coming in my future. I want to remember what feeling humans had thousands of years ago, try and connect fully with the "old days" as the native around here call it. But the thing is, I want to engineer this mindset by using certain setting cues, such as particular clothing, smells, sounds, etc. so that I don't have to be there at all times and I can switch between society and "the haven" at will.
