I'm wondering how much "idea vs. reality" all the Facebook, Twitter, and now this motion-sensing device NATAL will actually play out - grand things like this get announced, and then one, perhaps two games actually use it, and it falls to the wayside.

I think the only thing that has interested me thus far has been Shadow Complex. Mix of Metroid and Contra? Sign me up

Anyone else notice they didn't mention if the new MGS:Rising is exclusive or not? Lets suppose it was... seems like the Focus of this one is Raiden and notice the new tagline "lightning bolt action" .. I wonder if there will be a second MGS game but with Big Boss that retains the "tactical espionage" tagline

The game that every IDM listener should definitely look forward to is...

Wipeout HD!!!!1! Even thought FSOL doesn't have a track with their soundtrack. Not even Ceephax.

Shadow Complex reminded me of Bionic Commando: ReArmed (artwork-wise)...

Yes, he didn't say 'exclusive' to 360... but remember, the presenter announced earlier that from there on out, all the games were 'exclusive to 360', so that might have fallen in that category as well. Then again, the fact they didn't make a huge deal out of it being exclusive makes me think that it's not.

damn . . . that natal shit looks fucking AWESOME . . .

If they can pull it off, and have more than, like JR says, 2 games, will be friggin' HUGE.

Yes, especially the whole "interact with the virtual kid/world demo - granted, that could have been heavily edited/scripted, so it might be more smoke and mirrors than anything else at this point, but if they can pull off the tech, AND actually make compelling games/reasons to use that tech, then that's a different story.

I don't buy that "1080p viewing with friends" bullshit - most people can't get crappy Netflix streaming to work on their 360s at top quality.

Sony and Nintendo will have to have some HUGE things to beat this - really, just Sony, because not only am I expecting Nintendo not to even try and compete with the big boys (they seem happy with the way they've carved out a part of the market for themselves doing things "their way"), although this NATAL technology does seem to be a dig at the Wii's bread and butter and appeal.

Sony, I'm a bit worried about - the PSP Go was leaked, and even then, that's not such a huge deal, so unless they come out with some jaw-dropping games announced (and exclusive, although that seems like unless it's a first-part game, it's not gonna happen much if at all anymore), and even if they decide to announce the Slim PS3 (which rumour has it they were not going to until TGS), it would need to be coupled with a price cut to really make people take notice. The NATAL stuff makes the EyeToy stuff (even the cute stuff like EyePet) look primitive in comparison.

*remembers back to the SEGA Genesis/MegaDrive days when they had "The Activator" which was a full-body motion sensing controller, and how well that went over*

Nintendo's only real way of making an impact would be to reveal a new, real, Mario game, and perhaps announce a new Wii Zelda game. I think this will be the last Christmas that the Wii will even be on the radar, and next year, Nintendo better have a console planned to roll out in 2011, because by middle to end of next year, Wii will be on the way out, unless a price cut keeps it alive.

Yeah - I'm seriously questioning the whole 1080p HD instant play - really doesn't seem possible, although I have to say their embedded streaming on the NXE has actually seemed to work pretty well - though, the Netflix HD is sketchy at best and (fuck it, you were right) it seriously can't touch Blu-ray.

I really would love if Nintendo would drop a MEGATON!!!! and have some sort of crazy VR system coming out this Christmas - but, yeah, the Wii prints money, so hardly imagine they have any sort of bomb announcement.

Will be really interesting to see what Sony comes up with - maybe there's something totally off the radar that will blow us all away.

If Natal does work like the demos? Totally going to do wonders for internet porn

LOL, I thought the same thing when they showed "full body motion capture". Oh man, virtual hip thrusts! wheee!

They just announced after the show that full retail 360 games are going to be available for direct download... will start off with 30 titles, and grow - I guess the few experiments Sony did with PS3 games (Burnout Paradise, SOCOM, Gran Turismo) proved people will buy non-physical games. Expect Sony to follow suit... but there's the rub - what about the games that take up a full Blu-Ray disc? I doubt they are going to offer 50GB downloadable games.

Also, MS is going to have to step up it's HD capacity, and lower the pricing - a 160GB drive sells for 130USD, and you can buy a 500GB laptop HDD that fits into a PS3 for 99USD...

Has no one mentioned the fact that MGS is coming for the 360 yet?

it was mentioned. i'm resisting drawing any hate from the sony fan boys.

I honestly couldn't give two shits about MGS, but I laughed out loud when it was announced.

Expect a couple of PS3 owners to stab their Hideo Kojima blowup dolls tonight.

MGS: Rising is a Megaton.. I Guess. But i have never tried a Metal Gear Solid game, so i don't know what to expect.

Right now i'm pretty hyped for Crackdown 2, Alan Wake, Splinter Cell: Convintion, Halo ODST, the Halo Reach teaser, Modern Warfare 2. They all looked amazing.

Left 4 Dead 2 looked a little.. meh... It didn't look like there was a lot a of new things to it.

The MGS thing really wasn't a big deal, just for the fact that MS didn't make a big deal out of it... plus, they never said it's NOT coming to other consoles, and the infamous countdown clock on the MGS website still has time to go...

And Sony's Press Conference is tomorrow... coincidence?

Seriously though, Sony will have to drop some huge ass bombs or just have more in terms of substance to show if they expect to beat that, and honestly, I'm not expecting them to be able to.

Hell, I'll just be happy if they announce a Next-Gen Strider Hiryu game.

no one cares if MGS is a xbox exclusive... the point is that it is no longer a PS3 exclusive, and therefore can no longer be a bullet point for the pro-PS3 crowd.

to be honest, i used to love MGS, i mean pt 2 was one of the main reasons i got a ps2, but it seems its become like resident evil, same game just prettier graphics. my fav MGS is probably Twin Snakes for gamecube, ive been playin it since the wii came out and it still has hands down the best storyline.

yeah, it's never been my type of game... and even if it was, splinter cell is a decent substitute if you don't own a sony

It is a MGS game, but not MGS4, which is, and probably always will be, a MGS game. And, until they confirm otherwise, this MGS game does NOT feature Snake, and for MGS fans who are divided by Raiden, that makes a big difference. Also, the "classification" of this game "Lighting Bolt Action" (lol) versus "Tactical Stealth Espionage" may mean it's MGS in name only, and not what the series is famous for.

Big LOL if this is Kojima's attempt to make a more "western-style" shooter or fps using his characters, as we saw how successful Square-Enix was at taking Vincent from FF and putting him in a FPS...
