one chinese restaurant being dirty is hardly 'the truth about chinese restaurants' joyrex.

I know the owner of a Chinese restaurant personally, and he's told me about other restaurants he's worked at/managed, and he says practices like this, including 'recycling' of food when they clean the tables, occurs quite often. Probably the main reason I don't go to Chinese buffets anymore, and only go to certain Chinese restaurants.

And really, the topic title was just to inspire interest, albeit in a misleading way...

why are westerners so horrified by spitting in the street?

and yeah chinese restaurants are usually not the cleanest of places.

That's funny coming from you, as I was always led to believe that in South Korea, they are very strict about public littering, and things like spitting, dropping chewing gum, etc. carry stiff fines if caught...

Plus, spitting is disgusting anyways.

Err that happened in Shanghai...

also the new emoticons are no good at all.

Boy, I'm batting a thousand today, aren't I?

Just a few emotes I found that I thought were funny...

I guess this one's oddly appropriate, eh?

Liu told court Hai Yen is "old school" and not up to speed on modern-day health regulations.

A classic defense.

Almost as good as the chewbacca defense

Spitting in the street is fine. Spitting on other people is not.

I've seen a lot of toe nail clipping on the Skytrain here in Vancouver. It's either being performed by some meth addict, or an old Chinese lady. WTF is up with that? I wish that it was mandatory for them to read a book on etiquette before they were allowed in the country. Sorry if this comes off as being racist, but I'm sick of that shit. I prefer not to sit atop fresh toe jam on my way to work.

Oh and spitting on the street is just low class and fucking disgusting.

Should they have to take spelling classes too? Why is spitting on the street low class? Who defines it as such?
