I am on the search for some new music.

Alright let me first off start by saying, I really hate these threads sometimes. They just kind of annoy me when people just ask for new music, so I will understand some sarcasm and hate directed my way. It's alright. So if you wanna just say "fuck you" or whatever, hey I've been there.

Second, here is my last.fm (http://www.last.fm/user/analoguerevolvr), specifically new artists I am looking for are in the genres of Drum n' Bass, Acid, "90's Techno (B12 stuff) , Old/Classic Hip Hop, and anything Ambient. Anything thats great to drop in a DJ mix would also be awesome.

Feel free to just use this thread as just a general recommendation thread, so anyone else looking for music, ask-

you have no plays of the orb. you must repent by downloading "orbus terrarum".

also, the sabres of paradise's "haunted dancehall" is great.

for more recent stuff, try "black diamond" by buraka som sistema.

For drum and bass, I'd check out subtle audio - they are the label that was supposed to release the macc and dgohn album, which was then licensed to and coming out on another mystery label - which has been revealed to be rephlex.

Macc and dgohn do some good drum bass IMO.

Anyway, here's a mix from the guy that runs the subtle audio label. Tracklist below. Artist I like from this mix worth checking out are ASC, Nebula, stranjah, profane and Macc & dgoHn.

1. Polar - Out Of Range (Breakbeat Science)

2. Solo - Dominion (Volume)

3. Profane - Poisonous Swordz ('Illisauga' CD on Digital Wreka - www.digitalwreka.com)

4. Alpha Omega - Jah Step (Reinforced)

5. Instra:Mental - Rogue (Darkestral)

6. Natural Mystic (Digital) - Tension (Moving Shadow)

7. Cartridge - Another Way (Unreleased)

8. Break - Combination Style (Metalheadz)

9. Stranjah - Concentration (Free Download on Digibeat Music - digibeatmusic.org)

10. Whizz & Daze - Sonic Barrier (Future Thinkin)

11. Enjoy - Good Guy, Bad Guy (Unreleased)

12. Suv - Standby On Stage (Full Cycle)

13. D-Fect - Colourline 2009 (Scientific Wax, Unreleased)

14. The Green Man - Bassball (Basswerk)

15. ASC - Pitch Black (Offshore)

16. Kryptic Minds & Leon Switch - Lost World (Defcom)

17. Loxy & Isotone - Ancients (Cylon)

18. Matrix - Crossfire (Ad Hoc)

19. Reactiv - Straylight (Unreleased)

20. Dj Trax - Heaven's Gate (Insight Remix) ('Thoughts In Widescreen' Remixes Album on Audio Buffet)

21. Nebula - Warm Currents (Subtle Audio, Unreleased)

22. Bop & Dephecta - The Space Between Us (Sileni Remix) (Unreleased)

23. Paranoid Society - 681 Morning Krusts (Modern Urban Jazz)

24. Ital Tek - Double (Free Download)

25. Sabre - One Man Jettison (Darkestral - Unreleased)

26. Macc & dgoHn - Things Go Brown ('Some Shit Saaink' 2x12", Subtle Audio)

i've listened to some orb (have the orb's adventures on vinyl), but haven't listened since I got that last.fm... but I need to get back into them so I am going to get some more of their stuff (plus new album).

I'll check out that other stuff you mentioned too! Thanks!

ambienty stuff... i see lots of stars of the lid

so i reckon you might like keith fullerton whitman's 'playthroughs' (which i stood on the cd of and broke in half FUCK FUCK FUCK) and 'live in lisbon'.

also maybe some porn sword tobacco.

and on a slightly less ambient tip, but also classically influenced like SoTL, johann johannson's 'ibm 1401: a user's manual' or some max richter.

check out random stuff from bad ass labels, some still around, some not...

http://www.discogs.com/label/Merck

http://www.discogs.com/label/Cactus+Island+Recordings

http://www.discogs.com/label/Expanding+Records

http://www.discogs.com/label/Kranky

http://www.discogs.com/label/Temporary+Residence+Limited

http://www.discogs.com/label/Constellation

http://www.discogs.com/label/deFocus

http://www.discogs.com/label/City+Centre+Offices

http://www.discogs.com/label/Ghost+Box

http://www.discogs.com/label/Neo+Ouija

http://www.discogs.com/label/Tempa

http://www.discogs.com/label/Tectonic

http://www.discogs.com/label/Schematic

http://www.discogs.com/label/~scape

so much music lies within these labels but it would keep you busy for a long while, and most of the output is great

and stuff I have been digging lately or have been for a while: Jim O'Rourke's The Visitor, Broadcast/The Focus Group's new collaboration, Tyondai Braxton - Central Market, Do Make Say Think's new record, Boduf Songs (any of his releases), White Rainbow, Decal - 404 not Found, new Jega, Kiln (all of their releases), This Heat - Deceit, Here We Go Magic, Desolation Wilderness, Hulk, any and all Team Doyobi, stopping here because this could go on and on...

threw a few dubstep labels up top and I love the music they put out, if you do not like this form of music, sorry to hear that....

but most suggestions I made are IDM, Ambient, Post Rock in nature...

if you haven't been going here: http://www.acroplane.co.uk/ to get free music you should have been by now...

that is all for today, hope I was of help to ya!

Helios - ambientish

Stars of the Lid - drooooone

Hecq - dark ambient

Ras G - downtempo jazzy beats

Haha, really good selections mate, but I've listened to these guys before. Anything else similar?

This looks banging, I've been hearing all about Macc & Dgohn, I think I actually heard a few of their tracks awhile back on youtube or something. Really good. Definitely will check out this mix and more M&D

I've heard some Johann Johannson, but not enough to remember what I thought. So i'll check that out and the other things you mentioned. Thanks!

don't forget to check out his album Steel Wound as well, a bit older, but it's his most ambient-y

also check out Arvo Pärt

It's contemporary classical music, but it has inspired (and is still inspiring) lots of ambient musicians (like stars of the lid, murcof, etc)

But only check out his instrumental tracks:

fratres

cantus in memorian of benjamin britten

summa for strings

festina lente

fur alina

spiegel im spiegel

tabula rasa

sarah was ninety years old

mein weg

fur lennart in memoriam

ok, i'll stop here (for now)

i could go on and on when it comes to recommending music

if you only check out one album i recommended, check KFW's playthroughs.

anyone who loves stars of the lid will love it.

it's solo guitar processed through a big-ass modular synth.

I'll get around to checking out everything listed so far in the thread. I might not like some of it, but I am always down to try it out. Just might be a couple of days to get my lazy ass motivated to find most of this stuff. I got to watch out for my waffles ratio too :sadface

how exclusive are you with hip-hop? do you only like old school?

I like old school mostly... newer hip hop to me is instrumental hip hop (j dilla etc) ... But I am open to more recommendations

i'd say check out illmatic by nas. it's not the stereotypical "bitches and hoes" that new school rap is often labelled with, but it's real stories delivered with one of the best flows in hip-hop. plus i noticed you listen to premier, and he makes a few beats on illmatic too.

there's also an untapped goldmine in wu-tang and wu related records. check out Liquid swords by GZA and Enter the wu tang: 36 chambers by wu-tang.

i seriously doubt you'll regret any of these choices.

very cool, I've yet to get into the Wu-tang and it's members work really, so I'll dig deeper and get more. And I'll check out Illmatic, had no idea that Premier was involved- Thanks!

Capsaicin I'll check that ambient out, thanks!
