fourier analysis.

 

i like how the consonants are approximated by very low and very high notes. hadn't thought of that, even though it's obvious when you think about it.

yeah, i can remember a lecturer at uni showing me a few years ago. he put a shite coldplay track into it and it showed what underlying notes were being played using midi piano roll. quite cool.

 

it was for apple mac so fuck knows what it was. sorry mate.

is there a program that does Fourier analysis and converts it to midi piano roll?

 

Yeah. Any of you who are familiar with the technical side of it, would there need to be analysis of the piano waveforms first to produce this. It seems counterintuitive to think they could just make assumptions about the fundementals and it would sound this nice.
