so like, three dispensaries have opened up in my neighborhood very recently. they look like total piece of shit little shacks. i cant imagine the medical demand for marijuana warranting three rival piece of shit shacks. that's hurting the value of my property i bet. goddam potheads.

what is that? a head shop?

no they are little piece of shit weed shacks with shitty lowest common denominator tongue-in-cheek weed wordplay advertising their products wherein you can legally obtain marijuana with a prescription or a license or something like that.

they've been literally popping up in my neighborhood like mushrooms from shit.

hmmm probably not the best analogy for my neighborhood

i'm in Colorado by the way.

i'd rather this shit be fully legal so you can by it at the grocery.

it would be the preferred method but stupidly most weed laws were pushed in using medicine as an excuse. a lot of pot heads fall for this and use it as their identity 'i gotta medicate man' but most of the ones i know who have cards know that the law is silly

how do get a license/prescription? is there a test lol?

in my local free newspaper there are no less than 6 classified ads on the very back page advertising medical marijuana consolations 'no documents required' they say

im sure there are legit/real doctors who will prescribe it for you, but more often than not i hear of people getting them from doctors who have turned their practice exclusively into giving out marijuana prescriptions

the whole medicinal angle is a joke though, with any other drug prescription they would designate you an amount and a dosage to take in a certain frequency. with weed its just an open season card to buy however much you want if thats 1 gram or 4 pounds

i have a friend in Boulder who just got his 'caregiver's' license or something like that. apparently they can grow up to six plants at home? seems pretty ridiculous. six plants could yield pounds of weed if done right.

i'd rather buy my weed from a safe and semi-regulated business that's operated by a friendly, knowledgeable staff, than from a street dealer who's asking $50 for an eighth of shake.

i've never heard of a dispensary causing problems in a neighborhood. it's in their best interest to stay low-key. but knowing how most americans feel about marijuana, i can see it maybe bringing down property prices. it's a shame. these dispensaries are a huge step in the right direction.

and for a guy who's so often drunk, on xanax, or totally obliterated on some other cocktail, i don't understand your problem with benign potheads.

I don't smoke weed, but I've heard nothing but good things about them. There are lots of different flavors, and it's really high quality. At least here in California.

ouch. i dont have a problem with most potheads or else i wouldnt be spending my time on watmm. my problem is with this whole joke of a "medicinal" use of marijuana (see above post). it's a recreational drug.

There are like 500 dispensaries in LA alone.. Ridiculous, there's going to be a big backlash against it and the one's who'll truly suffer will be the terminally/chronically ill.

i firmly believe that thc aggravates my paranoid schizophrenia, and may have activated it in the first place

but my friends who shared weed with me were all about sativa and not indica and that may be the reason

Fred do you think weed has no medicinal value at all?

i'm not saying that. i'm sure it has some value in some cases. i've heard of people really sick with cancer with no appetite being prescribed marinol to give them the munchies. i personally can't wrap my head around weed as a pain killer. for me it's a pain amplifier. if i smoke, anything that is wrong with me will be the only possible thing i can think about. but that's not the point, we all know what's going on with these dispensaries. you cant tell me that their customers are all sick. it's a charade.

i dont want to deny anyone their weed. i just liked it better when people were getting it from their drug dealers' normal-looking homes and apartments. now it's like having a weed pride parade outside every day.

sorry, low blow.

but i'm living proof that marijuana has medicinal value. i have chronic back & neck pain from a two-story fall, neuropathic pain, anxiety and depression. marijuana helps with every single one of those problems. and because i can't afford visits to doctors/specialists and mainstream pharmaceuticals, it's the only option i'm left with. it helps me live a pretty normal life. unless i smoke too much. then it helps me live a really weird life.
