i am considering the teachme! irish interactive software

this looks like it only gets you up to intermediate status

i am willing to put in more work outside of/along with it

would like to be at least competent; any suggestions?

move to the aran islands. wouldnt be a bad experience either, dunno if your serious. friend of mine from norway successfully taught herself irish by living there for a while (and doing four years of undergraduate irish studies beforehand)

you will have to drink a lot also, goes without saying.

why the hell would you teach yourself irish? why not a more useful language that's actually spoken by real people, not some drunk leprechauns in remote areas of a little island.

Why don't you go fuck yourself?

The best way to learn Irish is to immerse yourself in it. That's probably not an option for you though is it. Learning to speak it with a computer programmme might be a bit weird but sure give it a shot.

I would bother learning to write it, the grammar is fucking mental. I found the whole German thing: Der Die Das Die to be more logical and easier than any of the Irish grammar.

EDIT: I'll speak it to you if you've got basics down.

Cork would be beautiful, if it weren't for all the Cork people.

Cork is the greatest city in the world, though granted not the prettiest. Love it. And pretty sure it made Lonely Planet's top ten cities to visit list this year. So its loveliness has been verified scientifically, by scientists, using scientific experiments.
