As per usual, Arsenal get the easiest group then. LOL.

Chelsea, Bayern and Barcelona guaranteed knock-out stages too.

Ajax, AC Milan and Real Madrid make a nice Group of Death. But Tottenham, Inter, Twente and Bremen are pretty hard to pick between too. Inter should be top, but God knows about the rest.

Man Utd should really get through their group. Only Ranger pose a problem due to having great motivation, but Valencia have lost four of their best players from last year.

Tottenham will have a tough go of it in their group. They stand a chance, but they have to play much more consistently than they did against the Young Boys...

FUcking LOL at Arsenal and Barca's groups.

Chelsea might have a bit of a tough time with the russians, adn Roma might be able to do something with the krauts (not really though).

Can't see Rangers causing anyone any problems to be honest. Don't think they'll end up getting the kind of shoeing that Celtic got tonight but still.... another pish year for Scottish teams in europe.

As for Spurs in their group. I think they'll struggle. Wouldn't surprise me if the trap door into the UEFA cup is a step too far. That's presuming Rafa can get something approaching the level of performance that Mourinho got out of Inter... so.. you never know.

I think Spurs will get through that group, I hope so at least.

Although it wasn't our defence that was at fault so much last night (as Rangers barely ran at them) I can't believe Fergie started all 4 for the first time this season, 1 making his competitive debut for the club and 2 others returning from injury.

Think last night proves we miss a creative attacking midfielder, Scholes can't play every game and Fletcher can't do it alone. I'm pessimistic about any success this season.

Defence was not even a consideration, good chance for them to get a run out. Everyone knew Rangers would come out defensive, but christ that was tighter than 13 year old's hymen. Absolutely spot on about a creative midfielder, Gibson (even though he hit a few smartly) was poor, and Park put in his usual workmanlike effort but he's not going to create much beyond the occasional give and go which Rangers had well marked. Rooney did not play well either, but I was very impressed with Hernandez, he's a monster in the air.

I'm sure Sir Alex had a few choice words after that performance. I'm willing to bet two of them were "utter" and "gash".

Spurs a bit unlucky. Exciting match though.

Maybe we didn't concede but we could have on a counter if Rangers got their shit together, I can understand 1 or 2 but not all 4 making their first games in the CL.

Hernandez was good yeah, he was turning them at will at times but with so many of them back it was hard. I think he can flourish given game time, just bad timing that Berbatov has really kicked on. Just wish we had got a player like Ozil now perhaps.

Velas first goal was the stuff of PES. I could watch Arsenal do that all day.

I like the way he finished those two goals with a lot of composure. Right now he has a good window to prove himself worthy of more gametime in the future..

Yeah, Vela was mostly disappointing in his brief glimpses last season, but he had a good World Cup and gained a lot of experience from it.

With a good Carling Cup run and some decent sub-performances whilst RVP, Bendtner and Walcott are injured, he could break into the first team next season.

I'm not a ManU fan but wish you did get Ozil just so I could see him on a regular basis on MOTD. In a purely footballing sense you understand.

Stayed up well past sensible to watch all the CL highlights and have to say there were some quality goals and play on show. Agree with the comment about Muller's goal - a cracker. Messi's double one-two in the Barca game was quality also.

It was a pretty calculated risk - first match of the group stages, against a team without much striking power. YOu gotta blood the young'uns sometime. I'm not complaining much about the team selection, although I would have liked to have seen Macheda come on instead of Owen.

I'm so pleased with Berbatov's start to the season, hope he can continue in this form, maybe silence some of the haters...but yeah the lack of a creative midfielder was really apparent. Hopefully in the January transfer window....if there's any fucking dosh left.
