It is a volley. Not as impressive as hitting the ball before it bounces, but if it's in the air when struck it's still a volley. This isn't tennis. It's not a half volley either as it would need to be in contact with the ground when struck.

No bounce = volley

One bounce = half volley

One touch control in the air, no bounce = half volley

One touch control in the air, bounce and then another bounce = no volley

Amateurs. It's a nice goal, but it's in no way a volley.

Middle class guardian reader and Arsenal 'fan' applying concepts from tennis to football and patronising a working class hero who once fondled Chris Waddle's cousin. What has the world come to?

A half volley is most definitely striking the ball as it drops and touches the ground, think of a drop kick in rugby. Volley is simply hitting the ball in the air, it doesn't matter how many times it's bounced in football. 'Volleys & headers' was simply stretching the concept to make a game of it.

Worst use of the Nice, Nicer, and Nicest Goals Thread...one more outburst from Gary C and he is 86'd - full volley with sugar on top.

Fucking awesome, that. ^

Totti is one of the most strangely talented footballers of his generation.

Has he achieved greatness? Between Euro 2000 and WC 2006 and the fact he's been a one clubber, I'd say so.
