Who are you a fan of? I guess comic artists count, since most do stand alone pieces either professionally or for hobby.Dan Lish - Stictly Kev champions him, and deservedly soMasamune Shirow - the unknown artist behind Ghost in the Shell, Appleseed, Orion, Tank Police etc. he fell into tentacle porn in the 00s, and pretty much lives off his liscensing nowClive Barker - a renaissance man, my brother and I have liked his paintings since adolescence.Akira Toriyama - beloved manga artist, creator of Dragon Quest, Dragon Ball, Blue Dragon, Dr Slump & Chrono TriggerShigeru Miyamoto is actually a brilliant classicly influenced illustrator, although he left that behind in the 80s mostlySalvador Dali - a museum of his works is in St Petersburg, Florida so I was fortunate enough to visit that several times so farDoug Chiang - primary conceptual artist for Star Wars prequels. His designs are beautiful, and weren't done just by the CGI deptRalph McQuarrie - original Star Wars artist, basically responsible for the look of the entire SW universe. His stuff is being mined again by SW RebelsSyd Mead - sci fi master.Jean Giraud - the late great Moebius. They were going to design the sequel as well, but that's in development hell going on a decade now.
