  1. That doesn't make any sense, considering most virii are named by Norton, Symantec, etc., and not the author, and rarely contain strings within them containing the name... Early antivirus heuristics would look for patterns in the filenames... not the case anymore.
  2. Here's some interesting thoughts/inferences about SYRO so far: This is Richard's first release on (presumably) WARP in 13 years - assuming it comes out in 2014 that is, of course. This will be the first Aphex Twin (or AFX?) release available digitally at the same time a physical version is. The music potentially could be close to a decade old, and we'd probably be none the wiser. I like to think this is new stuff. We don't know if SYRO is an acronym, a name, or something altogether different. Aphex Twin finally has an Official Twitter account, although it's probably manned by the marketing folks at WARP rather than the man himself. This will be his first release in the second decade of the 21st century - Rushup Edge and Confederation Trough missed it by 3 years (2007) **** ******* **** ** *******!
  3. The track titles on DrukQs were hardly random - they were a mixture of old Cornish, and names Richard gave to certain tracks, obviously they have meaning (to him). Analord was the same case, even cleverly naming some similar to virus names so anyone with digital versions on their PC might have their antivirus heuristics triggered and the files quarantined...
  4. For $100-$200 more you could have one with considerably better hardware that's 100% backwards compatible, runs DAWs & Photoshop, doesn't have a monthly online fee, and has most AAA titles for $20 or less if you exercise a little patience. You forgot to mention all the viruses, driver issues, and hardware incompatibility issues you get with a PC as well - not to mention having to buy a new video card ever few years so you can run the latest and greatest games as they were intended. Oh, and the fact that new video cards cost as much if not more than a PS4...
  5. Duly noted! My old ps3 needs all the help it can get. An SSD won't help a PS3 much at all - the interface is SATA I, and to see the speed benefits of a SSD, you need SATA II (ideally 3 - even the PS4 isn't SATA II and putting an SSD in that makes a nominal difference in load times). Hybrid SSDs work on caching, but again the bottleneck on the PS3 is the bus (SATA I), so caching won't gain you much either.
  6. Who knows if we'll ever know - I wonder if the picture posted has anything to do with the cover - it is a printed card he (I'm assuming that's Richard's eyes) is holding up... Odd colour for the Aphex Twin logo too.
  7. Odd though that WARP itself hasn't said a word though it's usual outlets...
  8. I was wondering when the speculation about the album title would begin...
  9. Seems like he's named the last track after someone who's done photographs for him...
  10. Was that imminent enough for all of you?
  11. That is probably one of the best benefits of PS+ - let you try games that you would otherwise never consider or pass up because you wanted to spend your money on another game more...
  12. Azure Striker Gunvolt hits the 3DS eShop for 15USD on 29 August - made by the creator of Mega Man and Init Creates, who did Mega Man 9 and 10: Q-Games is back with an AMAZING PS4 game, The Tomorrow Children on PS4: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9bnfz3XjUxQ Apparently yep it really does - leading to speculation that a majority of the press that gave it such glowing 10/10 style reviews didn't actually play it all the way through. I like it - wasn't the greatest game, but was for fun while it lasted. GOTY? Hell no. Coincidentally, the first Bioshock I've ever finished - the first two just bored me and I never went back to them.
  13. They recommend at least 5Mb down, so unless you are on really low-tier DSL, I think you might be OK - it has a test you can run to see if your connection is up to snuff (and I strongly recommend a hardwire connection, especially with the PS3, as the PS3 wifi radio sucks (and is only 802.11G). You're talking about Resogun (which was given away FREE on PS+) - one of the PS4's best games, hands down. They recently came out with an expansion which I happily bought and still play it. The "P.T." playable teaser/tech demo for PS4 is awesome and scary as fuck! It definitely brings back the classic Silent Hill vibe of the first 4, really unsettling. Kojima and Del Toro working together is gonna be amazing. Norman Reedus as the main charachter is a nice icing on the cake as well. As a long time Silient Hill fan and fan of Kojima's games I cannot wait for this! HOLY SHIT I played this last night (with the lights off, of course) with my son - this was the first time in about 20+ years I have felt actual fear (and got goosebumps) playing a game (or any game for that matter) - the level of immersion in the demo is amazing, and if the full game keeps that, Silent Hills will be an amazing game, for sure. The puzzles in the demo are incredibly well done - we still haven't got the phone to ring or the baby to laugh twice - and for God's sake, DON'T look in the bathroom sink (really, DO look - disturbing as FUCK).
  14. Good for you. White PS4 is IDM as fuck. The only bit I don't like is how the control bits are black still... but then again, having them white as well would mean the controller would get sooo dirty...
  15. The Destiny Bundle would be a good way to do that... if you want Destiny. I do. I tried the beta on my xbox360 and I'm guessing it really doesn't do it justice, but I enjoyed what I played. I also never had a ps3, so I'm hoping I can somehow play old ps3 titles like flower, journey, etc. But not really sure how that's going to work. Been saving for almost 6 months, cannot wait until September. I jumped into PS3 about a year ago, and had so many games to play exclusive to the platform. Sadly, I don't think you'll get a chance to play them unless you use their Now service. Flower, Flow, and now Journey are on PS4. Sony seems keen on revisiting their PS3 must-have titles on PS4, so I don't think you'll miss much.

  17. I posted about it in the New/Upcoming Releases last week... being an xbox exclusive didn't work very well financially for the guys that made RYSE. Apparently if they make a RYSE 2 it won't be an xbox exclusive for the now downsized company. Yeah, Ryse is now coming to PC. I don't mind games made by the company (e.g. Microsoft or Sony or Nintendo) made soley for their console, but the third parties need to stop being lured by the first party's moneybags and realize they'll make more overall if they go multiplatform. Then again, some studios don't have the resources to do all platforms at once, and ironically, the exclusivity money may actually help them realize their game for alternate platforms. They finally admitted that Boob Raider is a "timed" exclusive, but won't say how long. Goes to show you the backlash sometimes proves helpful. I'm glad, it will clearly sell more on PS4 (because of the install base now), hopefully by the time it reaches, we'll get a definitive edition or something. If they release anything but what they end up releasing on XBONE/360, the Microsoft fanboys will rage HARD.

  20. And in other (not surprising) news... Destiny beta saves will NOT carry over to the full game. I really don't mind myself - I think starting everyone on a level playing field is kinda nice, but sucks for those who mistakenly thought the beta would carry over (LOL) and invested gobs of time in getting everything and grinding to buy pointless ship upgrades...
  21. Don't you mean Dargon Quest? (it was misspelled on the New Zealand iTunes Store... inspired a short-lived meme)
  22. Sadly there are probably a lot of people like him, and for whatever reason never got interested in technology or the internet and thus their stories are never known...
  23. Reminds me of a girl I dated once...
