  1. happy people - cool herzog doc about an isolated village way north in russia. focuses on a trapper. 10/10
  2. about anchorman 2, farrel wrote the second half, mckay wrote the first half. writing a sequel to a huge success is asking for disappointment; people who want a copy of the original will be disappointed by an original sequel, and people wanting an original sequel will be disappointed by a duplicate. will farrel i think would want to go weird and original, which would have left most viewers disappointed imo, so they came up with the idea to have mckay do the first half, set it up like reasonable sequel, then farrel kind of jazzes it out with the second half. tbh i was playing guitar and half paying attention for a lot of it and then didn't really want to rewatch it, but i thought the second half picked up the pace, and the ending was pretty good, too.
  3. dude yes. a lot of music is at another level with nice headphones. i did some research and spent a hundred us dollars on k240s which i like a lot, but if you want to spend more there are much better ones. from aaa thread: 1.Is autechre for headphones - yes or no? 1 yes absolutely, since the start. Having bedroom studios forced us to do it all on cans a great majority of the time early on. Late night manchester radio shows - listening had to be done covertly. We also had quite a few Walkmans (yeah 80s er), journeys to school/college would be essential headphones time. Later on we would 'idiot check' tracks' final mixes on cans during each DAT pass.. And still a lot of cans throughout the entire process - where necessary.
  4. lol, this thread title (from 2012) could be accurate in 2015 http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/tools-maynard-james-keenan-throwing-himself-a-50th-birthday-party-20131203

  9. transcendence was awesome. see it. some plot holes, but they're consciously chosen, it's well crafted. cool sci-fi flick, well done, good effects, some action, and based on compelling concepts to boot.

  11. i worked for 6 and a half hours... can i donate 3.03 or something
  12. q: people who donate $25 or more get the download right (if in first 600)?
  13. the important thing is to get this done. now that the media is reporting it the risk of someone else getting it is serious
  14. ^ if this deal goes sour somehow it would almost be worth the money for the lol of it of course if its legit and works out it wont be shit, though some people will gripe no matter what
  15. Treasure of the Sierra Madre - 10/10 - b/w, bogart, but it didn't suffer from it's age, it basically kicked ass. cool story-type story, as in, hey let me tell you this crazy story that happened. not that its narrated that way or anything, it just seemed like a realistic series of events. interesting character development tristram shandy: a cock and bull story - 5/10 - not uncomfortable bad or anything, definitely palatable, it just didn't make me laugh much i'm alan partridge series 1 - 10/10 - funny comedy. 2 hour miniseries or something, basically a movie. small apartments - 10/10 - nicely done dark comedy. porco rosso - 6/10 - relatively weak miyazaki, maybe it was just the english voice dubs american hustle - when a director apes goodfellas for a story that could have been cool/10 cock & bull story - 8/10 got it by accident trying to get tristram shandy i think. seemed like a late 80s/ early 90s street attitude movie at first, north side south side, fuckin cops, dark footage of rainy streets, people saying "faggot," turns out it was made in '03 and it takes a turn for a kind of poignant dissection of certain disturbing elements of society
