  1. running data from a phone or portable player into a stereo means you're using the cheap tiny sound card in that little device, and the sound still has to be processed by the stereo after that. backing up files is a pain. cds will survive a bad solar flare. cds cost about the same as files and you can turn them into files.
  2. down-right nice of him to include the 4 watmm favorite unreleased tracks.
  3. figured out the meaning of syro. its an anagram for "o sry," like he realized he hadn't released in a while
  4. clear history - larry david vehicle, written by him and a few others, kind of like a curb your enthusiasm movie with different characters. i enjoyed it, was cracking up a few times.
  5. interesting how joyrex mentioned that the digital will be available at the same time as the physical. the way he said it seems to leave open the possibility that the digital will be available before the physical
  6. syro digital link is encoded?
  7. i'll sleep when i'm dead - 9/10 - well done gangster movie, though simple story-wise from one second to the next - 10/10 - short herzog doc about texting while driving. kind of more like a public service announcement. made me cry
  8. videopad works for cutting and arranging, and it has some other functions. there's a trial, and it only costs 40 bucks or something
  9. Super is on nf instant in the us. i was shocked at how great it is, i hadn't heard anything about it. i just noticed it was directed by the guy who did guardians of the galaxy so i checked it out, the writing is charlie kaufman quality, acting and directing are great, ellen page, the tall dude from the american version of the office, kevin bacon. funny comedy. 11/10
  10. i hadn't been a joaquin phoenix fan, so i was weary of Her, even though of course i love spike jonze. i was pleasantly surprised at how much i liked it. i found joaquin to be great, and the story, which i worried could fall flat, was handled well and played out interestingly. the cincher was the future world, possibly my favorite future in a movie yet. 10/10
  11. The Secret of Nikola Tesla The Movie - 8/10 - old biopic of tesla. orson welles plays jp morgan, who financed him. touches on a lot of the interesting aspects of his life. nf streaming in us
  12. listened to china and the chinese audiobook today, pretty cool. free from librivox, a great site of free, user-created audio books
  13. jodorowski's dune is good. 9/10. plenty of jodorowki in it, paints a clear picture of him, his work, and the story of that movie. too bad it wasn't made... but he wanted it to be 10 hours or something? seems like he sabatoged himself for some reason
  14. stolen - blech, written by a 12 year old, plenty of poor acting and directing too. 3/10
  15. i hope circumstances improve. a lot of cool people in here. i struggled with depression for years, and at some point got through it, and that was several years ago now and i don't think it could come back. philosophical, psychological, and spiritual books helped. cosmic trigger, the structure of magic, and moonchild in particular. it's a personal journey that's different for everyone. i think the thing to suggest is to exercise your minds in whatever ways you are disposed to. i think that will help. be well, people. talk nice to yourselves.
  16. badlands - mallick/10 - pretty hilarious how he makes it like you should sympathize with the serial killers. kind of a precursor to natural born killers and goodfellas
  17. lone ranger - couldn't finish/10. depp fails as a jack sparrow tonto
