  1. This definitely isn't MFM and I'm guessing that whatever that 33 day countdown is leading us to, this isn't it. There's some really good stuff here, but I wouldn't call it a new proper album. The longest track is 4:00 or so. This seems like some odds and ends, some of which are very nice. Track 5 is an ambient little thing with birds in the background. Track 11 sounds like it could be a SAW II reject. Track 6 is the track he's been teasing along with the Weirdcore video effects - a frustratingly short version.
  2. Stepkids is great. Harmony is the best song ever.
  3. Right on man. I think you could argue that it could be a little shorter. But whatever it's just a positive record in the best way. Also Colours has that bell sound from Frontier Psychiatrist. Right?
  4. Yes also to the folks who've said they've heard a few samples from the first album. The one that I can remember for sure is the high pitched bell sound from Frontier Psychiatrist. It's in one of the Wildflower tracks but can't remember which at the moment.
  5. I've had a chance to listen to Wildflower a dozen times now and I love it more with every listen. When I first heard it, I thought it was merely okay, somehow foreign and strange. But after repeated listens the songs have started to unfold for me. I hated Frankie Sinatra at first, but now I get it within the context of the album. This album is a joyful celebration of life and music and I really think it's the best album they could have put out in response to the untoppable Since I Left You. Everything about Wildflower seems like a triumph to me. I couldn't love it more than I do.
  6. Aye it was nice to listen to it fresh again without all the analysis and expectations that came with the album release. Sometimes we talk ourselves out of fully appreciating good shit.
  7. Joyrex, when/if you reveal the big news, please start a new thread. I don't want to miss something because I didn't read all the way through to page 713 of this one.
  8. Yeah, seriously Xtal is incredible. What the hell is happening here?
  9. It's a sampled break, right? sounds familiar to me.
  10. That's amen on PAPAT, no? (love it either way)
  11. I can't believe people are hating on 180db and PAPAT. For me, the first few tracks have a very relaxed vibe (which I love) but then when the kick drum comes fading in for 180db it's like "oh shit, here we go." And that detuned polysynth is like techno for a sports stadium in your nightmares. And PAPAT? Man every snare hit is like a dream realized. I have to confess, I've been a bit tired of the Amen break the past few years. Just felt like people have done everything that could possibly done with it. But of course Richard injected new life into it like only he can. There's not a track on this album that I don't like. I still think it might be his best.
  12. Also, I've tried like hell to buy a legit copy of the Japanese bonus track but iTunes Japan won't accept my credit card. I don't want to pirate this, but damn I can 't find another way to get it.
  13. Joyrex should make clear what the rules are. Also: http://www.metacritic.com/music/syro/aphex-twin
  14. The last 40 seconds of Xmas Eve could definitely be rapped to. Lots of those moments on this album, but they usually only last 8 bars and then they're gone.
  15. idm is the most self indulgent music there is. it's all producer's tricks and wanking. that's what i love about it.
  16. and it's a total departure from the trajectory of drukqs > analord > tuss
  17. This might be one of his best albums. There are so many tiny classic moments that only last a few bars and then change. He said there was nothing groundbreaking here, bullshit. This album is leagues beyond what anybody else is doing at the moment. It's a classic.
