  1. Figured it was only a matter of time. I think his (former) supporters are more pissed off about this than he realizes. "Cuz we can't let Trump win." I agree, but it's still not a good enough excuse to surrender to HRC. Unless there's something more to it we're not aware of.
  2. My understanding is that it's Nightdive's remaster of SShock 1. I can personally confirm this because in the 1994 original it was pretty much the same sequence...waking up in a sickbay on Citadel station, and the first moving thing to greet you is that hostile robot that looks sorta like Tom Servo. This vid does a pretty good job of comparing the old and the new. But you might wanna skip to 0:10 if you don't wanna sit thru the bullshit intro. [youtubehd]MRSpyNK7JL0[/youtubehd] If it bears any kind of resemblance to the Bioshock games, it's no coincidence. The original SShock 1 is the spiritual genesis.
  3. Just backed Nightdive's Kickstarter campaign for the System Shock reboot. [youtubehd]NPkKrM73SOU[/youtubehd] Having played the original 1994 SShock (as well as SShock 2), I'm pretty stoked. Looks like it won't be available til December 2017 though.
  4. Yeah I saw the news yesterday. I hope so too, because I pre-ordered it on Steam like four months ago. NMS and DX: Mankind Divided are the main reason I'm excited about next month. In the meantime, I'll go ahead and try Shovel Knight then. Appreciate the feedback guys.
  5. That is indeed promising. I can empathize with the situation regarding your dad.
  6. I'm also thinking about grabbing Shovel Knight. Looks like it's received high praise all around. Anyone here play it before? Do you like it?
  7. Decided to get back on Fallout: New Vegas with the Project Nevada mod. Still had way better writing than Fallout 4, thanks to Chris Avallone. I really hope Obsidian can develop one more Fallout game on the latest engine.
  8. The seriousness will blow over in time. Be patient. I think it's fair that some of us have an opportunity here to voice those more serious problems though.
  9. There were times I imagined a sort of alternate timeline scenario if the US didn't invade Iraq back in March 2003. What if Saddam stayed in power up until the Arab Spring at the beginning of 2011, assuming he would have gone out the same way Gaddafi did in Libya? Not justifying the former in any way, but his being ousted was probably inevitable either way, and the country would likely have been in turmoil either way after the fact.

  14. Finally watched Chappie last night. The film kind of felt like a convoluted promotion piece for Die Antwoord. I guess it was trying to straddle between the DA hype and the whole AI evolution / transferable eternal consciousness idea. It felt like a modern version of a badly-written Michael Jackson film from the '80s. I liked Chappie himself, but Ninja was pretty much a poes until the ending. Also, why go to the trouble of transferring Chappie's consciousness to another robotic police scout shell when they could have simply found a way to recharge his fucking battery? Shouldn't you just be able to plug him in like any phone with a low battery? Anyway, I mainly just watched it just so I can say I have. But I can see now why it got shoddy reviews. Shame too, because I love D9. Seems like one thing Edgar Wright and Neill Blomkamp have in common in their "trilogies"; while they're both great directors, it's like they'd given up on story-writing in their last films.
  15. Just watched District 9 again. Must have been at least three years since I last watched it. Still find it to be an underappreciated film and probably Blomkamp's best of the three full-length films he's directed in the last seven years. Whether or not a sequel will ever be made remains to be seen, but it's begging for one. I've already come up with my own ideas for a sequel story, but don't want to burden anybody here with details.
  16. Hang in there Audio. That's what this thread is for, and don't feel ashamed about it. I'm kind of in a similar situation. My current job I started a full decade ago. I've been dealing with heavier depression this year than in the past because of it. In fact, I was supposed to be working today but called in sick because of how bad it's gotten - to the point where suicidal thoughts have cropped up again. I pretty much shut down last night because of all this. At work it's gotten to where everyone - both clients and coworkers - have become too demanding and dependent of me and I feel like I constantly have to pick up their slack. I'm just drained and yearn for a way out, soon. Good news is I have a pretty clear idea what kind of job(s) to look for next. Might be just where I'll end up within the next two or three months. But either way this is a wake-up call. It'll be a necessary move to improve my life. Sorry for being all serious and shit.

  19. ^ I'd ignore that shitz. Seems like SC has attracted more and more spam bots the last couple of years.
  20. Shoulda blown her a kiss dogg. Then your FWP would've been a lot more interesting. Too bad I had squat for reaction time... FWP is lower back pain, plus my phone battery ran out before I could take some sweet photos on my hike today. Went up to an abandoned mine in the mountains almost 60 miles north of where I live.
  21. Yeah I still think the new Doom is legit. Definitely better than I expected. I'm actually playing Classic Doom thru GZDoom, but with the Project Brutality mod and Hell On Earth Starter Pack map pack. Project Brutality is like Brutal Doom on steroids, and the HOE map design is phenomenal, especially the L.A. missions. There's zero doubt that the dev team for the latest Doom got much of their inspiration from mods such as these.
