  1. Just finishing up my third listen now and I'm convinced this is the real deal. I'm pretty blown away to be honest, can't understand those that are saying the album sounds atonal and discordant, I think it's their lushest work to date. The atmosphere on this one is great, reading Neuromancer as I listen and its such a good fit. The album does get a bit samey and their are a couple tracks that aren't quite as good as the rest but not a dud on here in my opinion. known(1) has even grown on me. It sounds like Autechre have written the best video game soundtrack of all time basically, definitely some parallels to Amber, LP5, and EP7, with the glowing synthetic sheen of tracks like Altibzz and Simmm. I'm so glad they took a radical change in direction, I haven't been this caught off guard by an album since Confield, the difference being I love this right off the bat. I can't imagine this is a fake, but I love it either way. But the cover art is possibly the worst fit for the music I have ever seen, lol. Maybe it was intentional to be misleading, I dunno.
  2. lol! The first rule of Oversteps is you do not talk about Oversteps. The second rule of Oversteps is you DO NOT talk about Oversteps.
  3. Holy fuck, go away for one weekend and this shit happens. I barely got any work done today catching up on all of these threads and trying not to poop myself thinking about the album. Is it sad that I canceled plans with my girlfriend tonight to listen to this? lol Almost through the album now and I really wouldn't be surprised if this is the real deal, I fuckin' hope it is anyways. I've been very into wonky hip hop and proggy synth stuff from the 70s lately so this is right up my alley! Only track I was a little sketchy on is known(1), it kinda caught me off guard. This reminds me of a cross between LP5 and EP7 with weird tricks they've picked up along the way. Def some vibes that remind me of tracks like Vose In and Maphive, both of which I adore I was really hoping for a 180 from Untilted and Quaristice and I'm really happy with this. Yes it is kinda cheesy and Plaid-ish at time been done with enough weirdness that I'm really digging it. It sounds like their soundtrack to a 70s dystopia movie like Logan's Run or something, I love the atmosphere. If this is legit it's already my favorite since Confield. If not I really want to know who did this. Ok, enjoying what I think is d-sho qub now, gonna get back to it. I'm gonna get high later and listen again on better headphones so I'll be back!
  4. Ambient and Max tracks? Ok now I'm excited, ready from a move away from the Untilted/Quaristice Machinedrum sound.

  6. I'm having a problem in Firefox but not Chrome, lol
  7. I wouldn't bother getting your hopes up Rex. I remember you stating your optimism about Quaristice because you heard a preview of Rale and thought it sounded like a brilliant return to their ambient roots (ambient?). I doubt they're going to go back to Tri Rep style tunes. I do wonder if they're still rocking the Monomachine and Machinedrum primarily for this album? Yeah I was wondering that too. I like that sound but would be more interested to hear something that sounds different from their last two albums.
  8. Yikes, I am a pretty hardcore fanboy but you need to chill out. Sean and Rob are just two regular dudes who happen to make great music. Most of their work is excellent but some is just not an the same level, mediocre or even bad. Just because someone doesn't enjoy a track doesn't mean they don't understand it or it's "their fault". With such a vast body of work of course there are going to be tracks that aren't up to par, it's just amazing that they are good so consistently. I happen to like Quarisitice but I haven't LOVED an album since the Chiastic Slide - Confield era. Does this mean I don't understand or am not worthy of appreciating the new releases? No, I just prefer what they were doing with those albums. Maybe I used to be the same way at one point and it's great to see you so excited but you don't need to be a missionary to spread the word of AE. Music should be enjoyed, not forced upon people. At the end of the day it all comes down to taste, so even if people don't share your viewpoint that AE are infallible and every release is better than the last, you should respect their view. That said, I'm not going cuckoo bananas in anticipation for Oversteps, but I am looking forward to hearing what they come up with. I think the live sets have been brilliant and hope we get to hear some of that stuff or of equal quality. AE is still my favorite music by a mile but over the years the excitement has faded a bit as I have discovered each release and it seems less like magic and more like very creative and clever music making. But I will always thank them for giving me that magic at one point.
  9. These are fake, but sound fun on my laptop speakers. No insult meant to those that made them, they are "quite good", just have heard "the boy who cried Autechre" one too many times.
  10. lol, oh the fake madness again, happens every time...
