  1. Awesome, really interesting interview. Sounds like GBIII was right about the field recordings on Fol3/4. I can definitely hear the train noises now that it's been brought up, in fact a few of the synths on the bonus disc sounds like warped train horns to be honest. Also interesting the weird abbreviations they had for their homemade equipment. It got me thinking, maybe the track names are just nicknames for their the gear they used to jam strung together. Seems like the boys would logically work that way...
  2. lol, 7th favorite or 3rd worst?
  3. Yeah, got this track the other day, loving it!
  4. Thanks for the recco, this track is shit hot. Who knew her voice would fit so naturally with dubstep...
  5. Yeah I think a lot of people get caught up in how they want it to sound, or compare it to past releases rather than to just listen as a standalone album. I realize this can be tough to do, but it's worth judging this album on its own. I like this one a lot, and while a lot of the tunes don't jump out as me as instant classics, I think it's very strong as a whole. It's an album of mostly solid tracks, and since there are so many ideas, even if a couple aren't your cup of tea, it's still a worthwhile experience. My problem with Draft and Untilted were that if I had a problem with 2 or 3 tracks, that was a sizable chunk of the album, which is not so much the case here. I'm still very interested to hear the bonus disc of course, to see what they do with extended jams. Hopefully we'll hear some of those lengthy AE mutations we've grown to love.
  6. There's a difference between fooling yourself into liking something and giving it time to appreciate and understand.
  7. Well said, I have similar feelings towards this release.
  8. I really like the ambient tracks on this release too, some cool ideas here. Fol3 sounded totally chaotic to me at first but it's a really cool track after a few listens. I know a lot of Ae sounds like badass robots kicking the shit out of each other, but this track literally sounds like just that to me. I imagine two robots just tearing up a downtown city block and chucking cars around before gradually powering down. I think we should all give this some more time before judging, this has already grown on me incredibly after 5 listens. Really looking forward to the bonus CD as well.
  9. Really wasn't sure on my first listen, but I should no better than to judge an ae release by it's first listen. Just finished my third listen and I am starting to love most of the tracks on this record. I like that it kind of jumps around and presents a lot of different ideas, some of it sounds retro, but there's still that element of being completely different than anything that has come before. Only tracks I am not liking at the moment are plyPhon, Steels, and the closer. None of these are bad per se, just don't really do anything for me...yet. I like the second half of the album better so far, pretty much every track is a killer.
  10. I must be a weirdo but I'm just not feeling Shackleton. Everything I've heard sounds really bare and thin to me.
  11. Benga's set this week on Mary Anne Hobbs, lots of tunes from his upcoming album http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?5vwmm1wzd2h
  12. Dope, keep us posted The excitement for this album really sunk in today, I am getting antsy.
  13. One can only hope. Would be nice to meet some of you cats in NYC!
  14. Good to see this thread back. Still a dope album, although one of the hardest to fully appreciate I think.
  15. Sweet mix dude, some great tracks in there!
  16. omg i hope this is true *wang semi-activated*

You can see where the video was originally hosted on the Warp site here: http://www.warprecords.com/artists/news.ph...3&filter=ae Interesting that the original version of Konlied MX was called Conlied, and out almost the same time as Confield. This might be a heavy rework of a Confield song now that I think of it. I wish the link for VI CODE SPOILSE was still active! Definitely relates to Confield but there is nothing featured there anymore. I wonder...

It's actually from a generative video Autechre made and featured on the Warp site around the time of Confield's release (don't get your hopes up, it's only about 10 seconds, but still cool) . A frame of the video near the end is the exact image from the album cover. The video is named Confileid, probably spawning a slightly altered title for the album. I've uploaded a quicktime file of the video (the only one I've ever come across) for the good folks at WATMM. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ILGI9Q8W
  19. Yeah pretty great, better than the first for me. Tough to say so soon, but it's probably my album of the year.
  20. lol, props to Burial to making awesome songs out of such crap
  21. This sounds like it's really going to be something special. Only tune I didn't love on first listen is Homeless, the main melody is pretty repetitive and a bit grating to me. Shame because the middle part where the melody cuts out kicks. Other than that, this sounds like a very solid album start to finish.
