  1. From the 'gender issues' thread so Zeff, I don't have faith in your thoughts on rape
  2. oh and remember when Zeff got suspended for calling the Obamas "fucking n*ggers"? (It was the Obamas, right? I want to keep the record straight on this one)
  3. Umm lol...i forgot WATMM had an MRA subset. p.s. You forgot to play the 'rape-allegations-can-just-be-dismissed-as-buyer's-remorse' card

  5. I think the great myth of our day is that, deep down, everyone (save for a select few) believes and wants the same things. The uncomfortable truth is that that simply isn't the case: for instance, 42% of Americans believe that God created humans exactly as they are, and a similar amount believe that Jesus is coming back to judge humanity within their lifetime. The problem is that many people read a statistic like that and fail to actually internalize it and understand its consequences. The difference between Scientology and some bigger religions is that we're more desensitized to things like creationism and rapture, although those are undoubtedly as sci-fi and goofy as Xenu and Thetans. I know the instinct to "be nice" often trumps the instinct to "be honest," but I'd say the stakes are sufficiently high that we need to "be honest." (of course let's always "be nice", but let's also call a spade a spade if we think it's indeed a spade)
  6. seriously listen to it It's about Orwellian microchip implants
  7. Okay I've had this ace up my sleeve for a while, waiting for the right moment... anyway, this is the Children of God/Family International cult you know, the one River and Joaquin Phoenix (as well as some other notables) belonged to when they were kids

  15. oh shit totally forgot about the Source family thanks no "songs by cults" thread could ever be complete without them
  16. (Chuck Manson was like a proto-Vincent Gallo...some of it is, admittedly, really fucking good oh what could have been) (Jim Jones' People's Temple Choir...great stuff) (David Koresh, on the other hand, sucked...that DI guitar sound lol) it's suprisingly hard to search for music by cults and cult-leaders, as there are bands called both The Cults and Cult Leaders
  17. this is less first world-y and more just world-y, but... Today the landlordish dude of my building started talking my ear off while I was on the stoop smoking. He said his son is so out of control that he doesn't know what to do, and when he himself was a kid his father would just smack him when he did something wrong...and this man's son just keeps making bad decisions, no matter how much he hits him...and how his son threatens to slit his throat while he's sleeping or burn the house down, and "he's the fucked-up one but he thinks I'm the fucked-up one..." *sigh*
