  1. too bad about the type. With only the logo I probably would have bought it.
  2. I'm inclined to tell OP if he doesn't like it, just listen to it more until he does. That's at least what happened for me. I enjoyed Syro upon release, but it didn't blow me away at the time. Still played the entire album about 20ish times in total that year I think, but for my first real-time official Aphex release since I discovered Rich in 07, it felt like an unremarkable release compared to some of his earlier stuff (I'm looking at you, Drukqs) It wasn't until I revisited Syro in 2016 when it suddenly 'clicked'. Some tracks have entire albums worth of musical ideas rolled into 1. It's insane. And I really can't think of any records that sound anything like it, both in composition and instrumentation. syro u473t8+e [14198][piezoluminescence mix] at around 3:46 just hits my brain in a way that gets me in an intensely emotional state I can't really explain. It's the combination of the Lead and that Pads starting around that part of the track that just give me goosebumps and makes my eyes water every. single. time. As of now I consider most of Syro to be top-tier Aphex. As far as I'm concerned it's the nexlvl shit I was dreaming of pre-release. It just took me a bit to adjust to it I suppose.
  3. I'm hesitant to state this at the risk of it being premature, but many tracks on this EP sound like an AFX imitation / parody.
  4. Seriously underrated among the fanbase. Interestingly I find the more casual crowd (respectfully) to like it more than the fans do, seemingly because they 'have to', in the sense that when Syro came out it was announced with so much fanfare of an IDM legend returning with a new release, the casual crowd was kind of told to like it by the media outlests. Anyway, for me similar to Druqs, the record just becomes better every time I give it another listen. The only real criticism I have is that from a mastering p.o.v. the record just always sounds kind of 'flat' to me. I'm sure it's an aesthetic choice. Maybe the tracks would sound more unrelated to one another with mastering that has more fidelity, considering that many of them were produced years apart from one another, but personally I sometimes wish that tracks like XMAS_EVET10 [120][thanaton3 mix] had more of an 'umpf' quality to them, especially during the parts where the track really escalates. Just my 2 cents.
  5. I yelled like a little girl when I saw the scratch intro from the Windowlicker video was included, only to find out its basically cut right out of the music video with the voice-overs dicked around with in between the track. I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but I've always desperately wanted the solely instrumental version of the scratch intro. Wonder if it was an artistic choice to publish it this way, or rich maybe just lost the original recording and tried to find a compromise...?
  6. Finally had a change to give the record a spin. Holy shit, the B Side is filled to the brim with gems. I prefer it much more to the DFN release.
  7. the sound at the DG gig was beyond terrible. The Barn where AFX will perform sounds alright though.
  8. 3 people have already asked me if I wanted to sell my vinyl.
  9. If there does end up being a Vinyl sale at the event and you're serious about it i'll rememeber to buy 2. Wonder if I'll run into some of u wankers tomorrow. [EDIT] Who's fuckin' idea was it to have FlyLo and Aphex perform less than 1hr apart from each other at separate stages??? I am serious about it.. Monies waiting... I was about to get 2 but the Warp guys at the stand told me 1 p.p. I'll see if one of my mates is willing to get one for you.

  11. Hi everyone, Hope you are all having a lovely xmas. In the spirit of this turmoiled year (I assume for many of us) I decided to share this track with you all I made earlier this month. Enjoy
  12. CHEETAHT2 [Ld spectrum] on repeat since release. You really can't listen to this track (or any of them for that matter) through the streaming previews on Bleep to even get close to all the nice details hidden in the fidelity.
  13. Am I the only one who's missing the point of this collaborative effort? It reminds of that one South Park episode where this group of hippies organise a music festival to fight the big bad corporations by smoking weed and playing music all day. It's a nice gesture, but in the end it seems completely self-indulgent.
  14. This brief interaction made me giggle like a little girl.
