trying to figure out whether the album is "revolutionary" in these early days is foolish- even more foolish than reviewing music the way people review music these days. revolutionary implies broadly impacting, and gosh, that's difficult to anticipate and much better debated after we've collected data for a few years after the release. i'd argue drukqs was indeed revolutionary- it can be heard in EDM, hip hop, and even the little current jazz i know of (it should be said i really don't follow jazz so i could be easily wrong here). but obviously so many people got drukqs wrong when it first appeared.

why are folks taking this one seriously? it was uploaded before the announcement but couldn't the uploader just change the name to match a SYRO track after the announcement? Joyrex manifests his enjoyment for this fleak. What does it mean??

yeah it's the atp/minehead and it's track 4. i condensed that to at/m then just atm in my head without telling anyone. heh / doh. he did try meinhend (jason called it the atm track) and he did get a copyright notice, track 10 i think. Not me - coolandfrank caught that one, and it was track 4.

are the basses in the metz and atp/minehead tracks the same bass synth? what is it? you say it is freq shaving? i appreciate it's more than just that, but what freqs do you think he's messing with? it sounds like higher and lower stuff is there but he's cutting out a lot of middle stuff but i could be totally wrong/simplistic?

i really hope the alleged back cover is that image. i love badgers and stencils and old doggy-slobbered and dirtied tennis balls. Hey Joyrex! Tell 'em Cool and Frank, Ph.D., really likes this image and even if the LP is boxed and ready to fly, they should make another run with this wonderfully composed still life.

I don't think music reviews are worthless but they are typically overstated and overinterpreted. Music reviewing should place the album / song in some kind of context- "this sounds like these other artists and roughly fits in this genre," give a little bio, and then get out of the way.

FWIW I think some kind of limit like, 1 new YLC thread per 50 posts is the way to go. it's not a ton of work for a mod and would prevent folks from dropping in and posting and leaving. I've seen people worry that this will lead to too many "nice track" comments which indeed aren't very helpful. then again, that kind of minimal feedback can warm the heart of the OP. but yeah, if that becomes a problem how about 1 new YLC thread / 100 words written or something like that. I worry about 1 thread/person because it'll inevitably narrow things. it's unavoidable that i and others will simply stop checking threads of users we haven't found too exciting. that's not good developing and learning i think. -
