  1. A Most Violent Year - really well directed, cinematography was excellent, acting was top notch, music was good, but all of that was too much in a way, it was strangely too well made for the story, which was a fairly low key crime drama. Probably would've enjoyed it more if either the style had been toned down a notch, or if there was a more exciting story behind it. Still pretty good though.
  2. I just watched the first season. I thought it started off really well, but the second half of the season was pretty terrible, start of the 2nd season doesn't look promising either. Think I might give the rest a pass.
  3. last two tracks have been great, rogphlange was pretty top as well.
  4. eh, i don't think there'll be a huge amount of fear assuaged after reading that. you need to eat more than a mango (that you then vomit up), some sugar and a few croissants over a three day period.

  6. That is very true my favourite bit was when the kid got shot in the face.
  7. That actually looks kind of ok, some good actors in it. I'm sure it'll actually be awful though. The Happening was one of the best unintentional comedies ever made.
  8. nah, that track is def squarepusher, he's just trolling.
  9. yeah, I have, though only playing around with other people's gear, my stuff has been entirely pc based. there's nothing impossible about what I described though, I mean that's what the radiophonic workshop and others were doing in the 50s/60s (pretty sure that was before time code sync as well). of course there are easier ways to do it, but surely the point is to deliberately put constraints on yourself . like I said in my last post though, I was mixing up two separate things he said in different interviews, so not actually sure what role the tape editing did have, the non bass>midi tracks on there could easily have been your standard hardware jams.
  10. ok, I seem to be conflating two things there, he mentioned somewhere else using tape editing, but those tracks maybe just used his bass->midi into an 4/8 track probably.
  11. well if they show some stock footage of some random studio, why wouldn't they show some random footage of some pc software? there's nothing in the video to suggest that it's his pc.
  12. it was more than that though I think, it wasn't sequenced at all (i.e. no master clock) (outside of any step sequencers on the synths themselves). just lots of individual bits recorded to tape and cut together, radiophonic workshop style.
  13. you didn't answer either of my questions, who's studio is at 1:49, and do you believe what he said about selection 16?
  14. how do you explain the footage at 1:49 which is obviously not his studio? looks like this interview was filmed at his hotel or something, wouldn't be surprised if the only footage of him was from the gig and sitting outside the hotel, the rest is just stock. if he says he did it without DAW edits then I believe him. do you believe he made selection 16 without a master sequencer btw? aside from individual sequences from a 303 or 101 or whatever, everything was pieced together using tape (it's pretty obvious in the end result actually, there's a very loose timing to the whole thing).

Really? Well, I hope you enjoy it...I had heard this is a polarising book It looks like your standard quack physics, i.e. about as polarising among physicists as intelligent design is among evolutionary biologists. Or do you just mean it's polarising amongst the quacks themselves? ha. Also, what's with the hilariously awful formatting? I'm just finishing a regular physics book, The Particle at the end of the Universe, a history of the LHC and reasonable overview of QFT and the standard model. Pretty good, if lacking in detail when it came to detectors and other technical aspects of the experiment itself (would've liked some info on the setup of their distributed computing setup in particular).
  16. I'd say the Craft Beer Renaissance of the 21st century > biscuits and gravy been drinking lots of this stuff recently, it's great. http://www.victorybeer.com/
  17. new avengers starts off really badly, and only gets a bit better as it goes along. only a few cool parts, mostly fairly lame. was something fake and computer-gamey about the whole thing. the dialog was crap too, real lazy shit, whedon phoned this one in.

  19. I honestly think this is one of Nic's best. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vS1BkF-TBng Finally got around to watching this at the weekend, I love all things Nic Cage (recently watched Con Air again, round house kicks/10), and this was up their with his best shit. Amazing.
  20. lol, Krishnan Guru-Murthy is at it again, deliberately winding up celebrities so he can be the centre of attention. in what universe does he think hollywood celebs on press junkets want to talk about their drug problems and daddy issues? C4 has really gone downhill in the last couple of decades, their news is one of the few decent bits of programming they have left, but this shit is pretty low.
