    that's not quite accurate. there's an old ass big as fuck canadian mining company that wants all in on deep sea floor mining. also, different countries (china) are up for it as well.. but the canadian company is one of the largest mining companies around.. not at all a bunch of tech bros. edit: the nodules take millions of years to form so removing them is kinda a one time deal. edit edit: more in depth reporting on fires and heat and stuff. also - DOOM

    30 years ago that sounds like a good time. at 50+ yrs old now, w/so many health conditions, if i had one drink and tried to go for a bike ride i'd be taking a ditch nap 10 miles in... or i'd need IV hydration at 20 miles.

    friend of mine in seattle did back to back to back 60 mile rides on a fixie track bike. those fucking hills! this is when he realized he was addicted to cycling. i recently put 42mm tires on my bike and my god it's so comfortable i should've done it years ago.

    yeah... they went nuts.. even the not so religious people were, gasp, clutching their pearls. i had to explain to one or two people that americans are often generally too stupid to understand why they shouldn't be offended by something. some people went full comic book guy "worst opening ceremony ever" etc. those people love to hate on france and have a very limited understanding of cultures outside their own subdivision. then there's all the proud european white heritage people who don't get that the greeks are where their whole thing comes from and they're offended by the thing they say is threatened and want to protect etc etc.. the same people who get offended when they see a movie that shows actual history like all the gay stuff the greeks and spartans etc were doing and they call it woke hollywood or whatever. mush brains.

    like 98% of them do. edit: good interview about JD Vance not speaking for kentucky/Appalachia. she's very well spoken. edit edit: i think she's basically calling trump a bitch. edit edit edit: hedges always has a darker take on everything but i find him interesting for being a dose of realism even if it's tinged with a certain agenda that has persisted for a long time. lacks pragmatism but highly principled and often right about a lot of things.
