  1. Holy crap! Had never heard this tune before. What a jungle masterpiece
  2. I've been always interested in the oxi. But curious, how do you deal with having only 4 Tracks in total? I feel I'd need one Drum and 4 others to get anywhere good ;D
  3. A bit OT, but I've considered the akai force. From what I understood it is the mpc's software but organized around a step-sequencer and cliplauncher plus an actual arranger. No 1980's style Song Mode as in the MPC. Anyone tried one of those?
  4. Not a tracker, but Drambo is a very hyped app for a reason. People say it's somewhat an easy-to-use octatrack married with a flexible modular synthrack. Been never attracted to either of the two. But I recently downloaded it for a train ride. And man it rocks!! Great combination of sequencing tr-style, note sequencing and piano roll. Very good sounding modular that abandons cables for a good reasons. But also with sampling you can go wild. Didn't even feel 9 hours passing
  5. How many do you wanna get pressed? I also know guys who do cut, but usually not more than 15 piece
  6. Just the 500th announcement of a prototype. Got a bit tired from any excitement I ever had. That PPG synth they were on to was announced "almost finished" two years ago.
  7. What I've been thinking the last months
  8. Yeah this one is so damn cool. Not too pricy either. Much more interesting than the smpltrek for me.
  9. Sorry for asking something totally ot, but how do you make a list out of this using chatgpt??
  10. Where did ya get that table? Need something like it
  11. I enjoy akaizer https://the-akaizer-project.blogspot.com/
  12. NIce man. How is the build quality? Looks solid, but also have never owned something from erika
  13. ALready sold mine. But yeah get one, I think you'll find out soon if it's for you.
  14. I've had the blackbox for a year. Very well designed sampler that somewhat lacked character for me. Felt more like a tool than an instrument. But I seem to be in the minority as everyone praises it.
  15. Looks like I caused a GAS outbreak ? The Drumlogue looks cool but I'm not amazed for the price. Sounds like some lesser version of a rytm. My only concern with the LXR is that there seems to be several pages of a parameters for each instrument. Would have like the machine to be bigger with knobs per instrument.
  16. Would love a new drum-machine with some serious character and this seems to tick all boxes. Also a small mixer like on the 707. Finally manufacturers re-using that concept!
  17. Been really discovering this guy only lately. Guess the expensive pressings on ilian tape made me hold back (though they are great quality). Exactly the kind of techno/jungle hybrid I'd been looking for!
  18. That's a great tip using zip images! I know for sure the ESI does support zip drives as mine originally came with one. I got my Gotek also with HxC pre-installed to work for the ESI already so I could save myself some time. Shall take a deep dive into more possibilities.
  19. Thanks @TubularCorporation. Actually I do have a gotek drive with oled screen and encoder in it. It has Hxc firmware. Hardware compatability works perfect and the UI also works quite fine for me so far. Problem is more the ridiculously small storage attached to floppies and the ages it takes to save, say 15mb over three disks. Can Flashfloppy help in any way with that?
  20. Anyone been working out an affordable modern storage solution for an old hardware sample? I'd like to get an E-MU Esi towards a hassle-free solution. Tried Gotek and it makes little sense. Scsi2sd is the obvious proven solution but I just don't feel like spending 90+ euro's for it. Which is like more than half I paid for the machine.
  21. Yes I was referring to the Squid earlier. I absolutely love that box. BUT for completely different reasons than I expected. What I was hoping for was a central hub that can be used well for song arrangement. At that it doesn't always fulfill that well for different reasons No pattern chaining You can have only 16 pattern sets per song (the equivalent of 'scenes' in many daws or in maschine) Say you are changing notes tr-x0x style in trigger mode. If you wanna quickly go to a different track to do the same you need to press three buttons to do so. Too slow for me when live-recording a track right into my mixer and changing drum patterns on the fly. No arranger mode whatsoever. There's actually little hardware sequencers that have a decent one that isn't convoluted, but would have been nice if they'd tried. Now I often generate patterns on it and record those in to an mmt-8 or another sequencer. Sometimes I make a complete track on it but it has become rare. Why do I still love it? It's the most ingenious and unique machine for creating patterns and ideas I've ever witnessed. You could make music with this thing focusing almost exclusively on rhythm with whatever sounds you have in endless ways. That whole approach is something no other manufacturer came up with before. LFO's on pattern tempo anyone? A cross-fader that slows down or speed's up the rhythm for the moment you push it? And all these weird moments you can record and remove as you want. +reversing pattern directions, note repeat and another 10 more ways of manipulating rhythm. Other plus-points to mention: Excellent designed User UI, very logical design Very easy to use with a keyboard and have it as a midi router. I have never switched midi channels on my keystep again since hooking it up to the squid. amazing time warp function... The tricky thing with sequencers in general is that feature lists and youtube video's really give you only a very limited impression of how it "feels" to make a track on it. In the end it just comes down to trying it out and making a few tracks with it. And you know if it fits you. Still thinking myself to get a synthstrom deluge as my sequencer at some point...
  22. I have the drumbrute Impact and it's one of my favorite drumboxes to date. The FM drum is the greatest about it. I use the individual output of it running it through a monotron delay and a phaser to get weird but raw leads. The kick is fantastic too. Best Techno-kick around that isn't 909. Snares, hats and other percussions are decent, nothing special but very usable. The Sequencer is a classic tr-style sequencer without too much other bells and whistles. Good enough for all-round purpose. However I've switched over to using a squid to sequence for a while now. Not being able to switch midi-channel on the machine is a bit of a nuisance indeed, but personally it's not something I do more often once a year. Enjoy working in a more fixed setup where these things don't change regularly.
  23. Great album. Enjoy to hear him elevate his sound towards new levels without loosing that melancholic feel to it. The rap track isn't a favorite for me, but I think it's a nice experimental try of setting rap in a different context.
  24. This one is just heavenly. Loving No U-Turn, didn't know this one yet.
