  1. All set to sell your ultra rare mispressings ten years from now on future-ebay for 500+ £ ? Just posting on the day of release. Nothing has arrived yet but I guess it's a bit much to ask for, living in Germany. I ordered the CD version.
  2. Tax Charges - For orders made from the UK or the European Union, 17.5% VAT is added. All orders made OUTSIDE the EU are VAT FREE and you should click the EXEMPT BUTTON to reduce VAT to zero . Isn't it supposed to be the other way round or something? I haven't ordered directly from UK based label to Germany before. What is this VAT shit?
  3. Skam still has the 6th as release date, but no big deal, it says they'll send it out so that it will arrive at the day of release, I think - "Pre order this item to be delivered on September 6th."
  4. I already did that. But where did you get September 3rd? On the SKAM site it says it comes out September 6th. I listened to one sample and was happy some of the cool stuff from Mary Anne Hobbs was on it. Usually I don't listen to samples at all and I won't touch the others.
  5. Vamos is right about the disarming of "sensitive words" after all. Taking the word from them and using it yourself is the best thing you can do about the haters who brought it up. I honestly hope a couple years from now, everyone will be able to call anyone a nigger, meaning nothing else than guy/girl. Actually I thought the "n-word" wasn't all that sensitive anymore anyways. So the apology to the friend's black gf really was pretty pointless imo. The whole awkwardness surrounding the situation ... why? she's black, it's no disability. Apologizing for that is acting as if he pointed the finger at her and said something like "Ha-ha, you have no legs" or whatever ... But as far as I can tell, he meant no harm. In fact he didn't even notice there was a black person around who might be senstitive to the word, which is the least racist you can get. Remember the South Park episode with the flag? That was just spot on. Of course when some raging shotgun-swinging hillbilly calls a black person a nigger, the term's not being used neutrally. But the only thing it implies is that he is a racist fuck who thinks he's somehow genetically superior. It's not the word by itself that does the damage. The word itself can be rendered completely harmless, as can pretty much any insult. Racists will never vanish completely as it's not possible, but I think there's gonna be less and less of them around in the future. And the worst you could do is to empower the remaining ones and let them keep their ability to make us all go hyper-awkward by just using a word, or just when we hear that word. No?
  6. I like black girl butts. And by doing so I am being racist, I must be punished. But honestly - let this be the one partially serious post I will make in this thread - imo racism is sort of a bi-product of learning and conditioning. I - the Cro Magnon that I am - eat that plant once, it makes me sick. So I stay away from all plants that look similar. A chinese guy steals your car, you get angry, another Chinese guy steals your other car - getting tougher not to get angry at all people that remind you of the guy/the incident. The less you know, the more likely you are to react like that. Imagine a couple of black dudes moving in with some medieval village dwellers in the 15th century. First of all they're fucked cause they look different, and as soon as one of them does something stupid, oh well, better hurry, burn 'em all, get rid of potential danger, ignore potential friendship/cultural enrichment/nice dudes to hang out with/etc. As some may know, my mother is running a restaurant and as it happens to be the case with running a restaurant, you get to change your employes quite a bit over the years. And for some reason, every time we had someone working there who was from Morocco, they pulled some either illegal or just highly dickish stuff. One tried to run a credit card scam behind our backs, the other kept stealing stuff from the pantry, the next one got his own key made and invited his friends over, threw secret parties, gave away wine for free etc. It sucks but you can't act as if you don't notice a certain pattern there. Of course that doesn't mean that the next guy from Morocco couldn't be the greatest guy ever, but you tend to get a little suspicious and think, never mind the guys from Morocco in general, but I'll be a bit extra-careful the next time I employ someone who's from around there. Just cause of some experiences that you've made. Is it bullshit-conclusion or is there really a chance that, say, people who are A from Morocco and have grown up with a certain mentality, B moved to Germany and C went into gastronomy just run a higher chance of behaving like pricks? Honestly, I don't know. Makes me feel silly. On the other hand, I keep giving my gf shit for saying she doesn't find black people attractive in general. Maybe cause there's nothing to reason with here. Or cause I can't realte to it at all. But then I'm not all that much into latina- or japanese chicks - in general - and I can't explain that either. Racism-meltdown.
  7. I was looking for something like this rather ... [/post-it image]
  8. There are five racisms in this picture. Can you help me spot them all?
  9. irl-ololol Beware! Racism up ahead ...
  10. Hey I didn't know you were living so close to where I'm from, you could have come to the Trolley Twister last year!

  11. The beats kicking in in Treale at 1:48 is forcing me to blink my eyes every time.
  12. First listen was in the dark on a huge speaker system. My 2nd was yesterday outside on the bike with little headphones and grey crappy weather. It actually did a lot more for me yesterday. I never look at track titles before I have my own associations with the tracks, but I like the 3rd track now and the 7th I think, the one with the crazy higher pitch scrapey melodies. I think it's getting somwhere, like I was hoping - Although there are albums that I still haven't got till this day (LP5)
  13. I realize I'm way behind with this first impression but I played Oversteps for the first time today, I couldn't decide whether to order from bleep for the WAVS or not, but then I just bought the CD when I saw it on the shelf on saturday. I only knew the bit that was on German radio before. Honestly, I'm not getting the album at all, yet.
  14. I just witnessed Tankakern used on a CSI episode on German telly
  15. How can you not find Quino -phec relaxing? Aren't you getting confused with another track? Nope. Yeah I see it's pretty calm, but with the melody, and the creepy distant music coming through... it has that "you're all gonna die and it's O.K." feeling about it don't get me wrong, I love the track, I also can drift away with it, but relaxing just sounds so ... positive? I don't know. But it's probably my favourite from the album and under Polygon. Plus Bike Pump, I just heard that one again, man how can you not love this, with headphones and proper quality... It's like all the good spirit of the early 90's combined
  16. You think Quino - phec is relaxing? For me it's like the creepiest most unsettling thing... brilliant though.
  17. Bike Pump is one of my favourite Polygon Window tracks
  18. I was going to mention that (even though I've never purposely done this), but then they got the excuse "... and I said I liked that? Maaan I musta been stoned..." etc, while they wouldn't dare to change their opinion on a track they got to like through other external factors, cause that would mean admitting to being influenceable and biased, and they don't want to be that... I guess I prefer fooling myself into thinking someone actually has the same taste as me after subtly directing them over someone just getting off on something while being drunk or high or whatever, when I know the music they're getting all euphoric about might as well have been britney... :undecided: but I agree, I guess there's a certain level of being more open to new things, since drugs might also bring them to forget about some stupid prejeduces and listen to things more purely... but then, if they've trained themselves to be mindless pop-a-holics, their subconscious would prevent it even under the influence of whatever... but whä, more autechre stories, less speculations!
  19. I know what you mean. Yet it's seductive to confront other people with it. I am avoiding the emberassment-aspect by doing it subtly :wink2: and I never do it in order to shock them or anything... but in some cases, I know they are probably not going to like what I have to show them cause they listen to different stuff, but once you've managed to get them into an atmosphere of impartiality and being more open minded, not trying to cathegorize everything for once, I know they could get into it. So I guess I only show it to people who I think have potential to like it. I've mentioned this before - most people open up to new stuff only when they're in the right environment. They don't know how much they're influenced by external factors. E.g. the techno track from Blade. In 2002-2006, there was a huge hate for electronic music around the clubs in Germany, only hip hop and RnB was tolerated, BUT apparently, the track from Blade was considered really good by everyone and many people who would have hated it normally had it on their mp3 players, cause "the film's good". So I sometimes try to create a similar atmosphere cause I know otherwise it would be a waste of time to even bother... yeah, I could just leave it, but, like I said, it's seductive, and I think the way I try to do it isn't too annoying and if anything opens up new possibilities for others... I'm still a pretentious prick though. :wink2:
