  1. Army of the dead was stupid but fun. Snyder going full ham with Bautista and exploding zombie heads. I even dug the wonky lenswork. If I watch a movie the whole way through these days, it usually means they got something right.
  2. No, they're just greedy and want to gamble on the next get-rich-quick rocket. FIRE, index fund investments and diversification is what sensible people do.
  3. Lenovo Legion 7 with a ryzen 9 cpu and 32gig ram is coming out at the end of June, looks pretty tops so I'll be getting one.

It will rebound. Twitter cowboy Elon is probably having G-men at the door since they don't want people buying fancy cars with untaxed drug money. That and it's probably too volatile at this point. How stupid would you have to be to accept the idea that they haven't considered the massive energy footprint until now? Sounds like a pump and dump strategy - no word about whether they already have sold anything.
  5. If it's gonna be a discussion about the nebulous jungle VS '98 style drum and bass, let's go, I'd be happy to oblige. Because you are wrong. Way too much has happened over the years to make that distinction. I'm not gonna be posting Icicle in here, but it's pointless to be a bitch about songs beyond that - especially as so many people dig them in here!
  6. My dad was part of the Clarté organization in the 60's, which was heavily radicalized by communist ideology at the time. I have a newspaper front page scan from the time with his mug and an exposition of the various death lists they planned for the bourgeoisie, there were even planned bombings and other nasty things in the works which I never got the true scope of, perhaps best left to the pages of history. He eventually exchanged one obsession for another and went into pentecostalism. I've encountered a lot of people with life experience from former communist states and that keeps coming up in the back of my head whenever the subject is brought up. I don't believe it's possible to successfully engineer an arbitrary society based on some visionary ideals. History keeps being violent and everybody's owned by somebody. Maybe humanity will make it into space in time and we can worry about developing some universal values and commerce-free resource based economy, in the meantime it's just a matter of getting through the day, stave off the wolves. So yeah, they won I guess. Universal pensions will be a thing of the past in many countries some decades from now, so we'll have to save up, look after #1.
  7. My ranking of the top tracks, discounting analord 10 because it's a separate beast. I've been rigorously listening to analord since '05 (it seemed like a big modern date at the time). I used to try to emulate the sounds for years and then buy hardware once I could afford to. I don't have any good answers why this collection of tracks sounds so pivotal, the rest of afx' s output shrinks by comparison. My favorites of the extra tracks, that was a great Christmas:
  8. These tunes will fix any day! (^me and my S/O love this song to death!)
  9. Very hard to find unfortunately. Shady 2nd hand cd's are probably the only option unless you find a former label owner or somesuch. Poorly made Bryce landscape covers are like a guarantee of quality on this stuff.
  10. The singer of Protomartyr once said that he's not a good enough singer for happy songs.
  11. Took the Moderna 1st dose, having a lot of muscle pain but nothing else.
  12. I like a lot of music with a wide spectrum of feeling, perhaps even a tinge of melancholy, but had to dig a bit deeper to find the real heartbroken ones. I thankfully got over my dark periods but there's a respectable power in that kind of music, it speaks to you when you can't connect with other people. (^That one is played in cancer wards) About ten years ago, a friend of mine commented that a lot of the music I wrote was sad. I don't quite remember why I gravitated towards the minor scales so much but I think it was because it felt more genuine. Youth, ya know... https://sharee.bandcamp.com/track/seagull As I was writing this, my dog came up to me to check that everything is alright!
  13. My iPad pro recently died and you couldn't point a gun at me to get me to use one again.
  14. Yup, this one and a BBD chorus and phaser would totally set you up for those analord pads and 70's space funk. The behringer Solina is still on the horizon as well. I saw this and was pretty floored...
