  1. Mitch Murder????? he might have been mentioned? I can see vaporcomm not liking his super clean vision of the eighties. this album: http://rossocorsarecords.bandcamp.com/album/burning-chrome Data is the man!
  2. that trailer gave me pants tingles. I think we have a winner. Looks so much better than Pacific Rim. Last shot is epic Kaiju awesomeness!
  3. I love it. Would be a great film or play. Check out "Jurgen, Comedy of Justice" by Cabell on Gutenberg as well, if you have not. Adult fantasy at its finest. I like Dune even though I acknowledge it's a bad film. Sting is brilliant in it. I would never call it a bad film, only a film that is missing scenes due to poor planning and a vision not shared by all participants. If you know the story, the missing scenes are not necessary imo. One scene that makes the whole film brilliant is the one where the doctor is taking care of Baron Harkonnen's nasty skin. I love many other scenes but if you cannot appreciate the originality and atmosphere of that scene, it should be watched again. Yeah I felt the same way. Like a new genre that could be filled with original film ideas. Hopefully your wife felt/understood the tension. That seems inescapable. cheers indeed... "We have just folded space from Ix...Many machines on Ix. New machines. Better than those on Richese."
  4. NO you dint! I will check out that author. Read my first Grabinski story the other day. Fumes. I will read the rest soon. You have great taste man. Tis a shame I am the only fan of Dune.
  5. that is how I felt about Lost Highway. and Dune, People still knockin Dune. Lynch hates on Dune. I love Dune. Don't go there zaphod! Primer has too much exposition imo. I want to see what is happening, most of the time. Primer as a novel would have been more interesting. Upstream Color is a lot more minimal in that way. It unfolds without explaining itself too much.
  6. I actually saw it and his newest in the theaters, not really a fan of Primer but on a second viewing of Upstream Color I enjoyed it a lot more. There were a lot of firsts that came out of that thread though, lots of new music obtained because of it. you guys and gals still need to watch this:
  7. yeah, fuck all ya'lls! I can enjoy whatever I want to damnit! ANEURYSM~~~~~~~~BRAYNEBLO I enjoyed Frances Ha. Is it my favourite film? Fuck no! The story is original. Yes it has many guises and I normally dislike this type of film. I was impressed that I enjoyed it but I really like The Squid. Greenberg not so much, except for the line, "Hurt people hurt people." I like that. And yes MadameChaos, I know of Carruth, he is from my hometown. His films are nothing like Noah Baumbach's. Film that I just watched and enjoyed is a little indie number named Satanico Pandemonium. I dare all of you to watch it.
  8. I loved the flow of the scenes, very consistent in emotion and acting. The characters are shallow and indicative of today's apathetic youngsters. I think that Noah Baumbach realizes this about our current narcissistic first world culture and this is his film about it. So by feeling bored by this film you are ultimately bored with your own life, unless you live out in the bush. None of you are special. We all die. Thank you Frances Ha for bringing it all home. This is one of the best black and white "digital" films I have ever seen. 8/10
  9. King of New York 8/10 - Abel Ferrara has amazing moments and many of them are in this film. Amazing acting. Christopher Walken dancing and killing and being evil. Love this film. Abel knows how to shoot NYC. SO slimy. SO nasty. The way NYC should be portrayed. Can't wait for the uncut re-release of "Ms 45". Hopefully we get to see Zoe Lund's naked body! Yay!
  10. I hope for a more sociopathic government toadie out of Superman in the next film and a Batman planning to kick his ass. I bet my hopes shall not be satisfied. They will still try to make him out to be good. He was so timid in Man of Steel. So boring. Thor is so much better. It should be the other way around. Let Grant Morrison write the Superman script. Or any script. I want to see that film.
  11. @ o00o: I dig the beginning's look, but people hate it b/c the rest of the film is no good, last fight scene goes on forever and makes supe look like a sociopath. Fuck Hack Snyder, he is trying to make us think he is good at this. He isn't.
  12. yellow magic orchestra is so pre-vaporwave, some serious greatness there
  13. yes, I think that covers it nicely. Thor: The Dark World - just as good as the first one, if you enjoyed it, best Marvel Studios franchise imo. 7.5/10
  14. my initials dream state ideas on Draft 7.30, written at some point in 2003, for your records if needed: XYLIN ROOM: Ahhhh, the Ae sound, I think they played a version of this song live when I saw them here in Austin, it's got this back and forth type rhythm, with some sort of industrial plumbing being pummeled, and then of course the trademark click track sped up and slowed down to a rhythmic perfection, comes in with this rhodes type sound, the rhythm starts to disentegrate, goes back and forth, stability to chaos 02. IV VV IV VV VIII: starts with a demonic sound, into a futuristic clash between a drum beat, a keyboard melody, and some sort of creature like sound, like a gremlin being crushed, very unstable rhythm, is on the edge of falling apart, and it does, and comes back, the drum rhythm sounds like a break they fucking chopped to all hell and made it not what it was, Ae ambience ends it 03. 6IE.CR: this is what all the fuckers who thought Ae would never doing anything accessible again have been waiting for, bad ass fucking rhythm, a delayed rhythm track battling it out with a ambient one, this track.........yeah, this is like Ae and Aphex having sex, moves into a breakdown of the original rhythm with a beautifully fucked harpsichord sounding track and a trademark Ae synth sound riding on top, beautiful melancholy strings 04. TAPR: Mommy, I'm scared, these guys are trying to hurt me, Chaos with a motive, sounds like a fucked piano track being slammed onto tape, with Ae rhythms clicking away behind it, crazy 05. SURRIPERE: oh yes, Philip K Dick has awoken in his grave and thanked Booth/Brown for writing this one, sounds kind of like something off of SAW2, amazing tribal Ae rhythm with an ambient synth on top, riding the rhythm like a spacecraft on it's way to Jupiter, this is as accessible as Ae wants it to get, but just when you thought it was safe, a fucked rhythm comes in, definitely one of the coolest tracks on the album, at the ends Ae morphs into Kay/Del Castillo and then back again to their alien selves 06. THEME OF SUDDEN ROUNDABOUT: loose rhythm, very unstable at the beginning, out of the chaos comes a break that is all fucked, ambience, click track(sped and slowed), an eerie piano melody, very unstable, but then.........something comes in that reminds of a giant walking through a forest, a keyboard track that is very pwerful and constant rhythmically 07. VL AL 5: the atmosphere of some bar in a different galaxy, dirty, skanky rhythm, with an ambience hidden(synth), a contant rhythm that is very loose, pulse width madness playing on top and in the background, fucking amazing, some chopped ass sample comes in, almost like a TV station that in being interfered with by an alien force, beckoning us, ends with the sample chopped 08. P.:NTIL: another one of the more accessible ones, like a Machine Drum track remixed by Ae, a very hip hoppish beat but with fucked up click tracks bombarding it, a keyboard melody and a distorted melody battling it out, reminds me of alien cultures having conversations, this track is the fucking shit! can the rhythm stay together, sounds like it can't, and then a crazy fucked up string melody comes in like a dulcimer looped, alien ass shit, the rhythm falls apart 09. V-PROC: has a steady rhythm at the beginning, with reverbed ambience on top, and then comes in with this programmed break beat that's all choppy but stable, sounds like Perfuse on a lot of acid, fucking great, Ae and Devine having sex, nutty samples(very playful yet loud and in your shit) going back and forth on top of the beat 10. RENIFORM PULS: another Philip K. Dick wet dream, the future, Ae rhtythm at it's finest, reverbed high pitched hits, like twinkling stars, a wierd ass melody, and then some LP5 sounding ambience comes in on top of the rhythm, the rhythm starts to become hectic but not abrasive, just changes, tribal Ae rhythms duking it out with the ambience, oh yes, this is the way to the end, staticky keyboard..................... thanks for this thread guys, a fan for life.
