Oh yeah, totally, I hated it then. But I don't think it's just nostalgia - garage, more than any other form of urban dance music, got poor mainstream coverage. From what I remember being about 17/18, the stuff that crossed over was the horrendous Craig David/Sweet Female Attitude shit that was really, really bad. Champange/cocaine/smart shoes in a club style. I think that put most people off as that's all they were exposed to. I might be wrong of course, but that's how it seemed from my experience. Love it now, and I reckon if I'd of heard most of the garage tunes I really like back then I would of dug it. Very misunderstood genre.

Would put a fairly sizable amount of money on that Ghost tune being El B, it sounds exactly like him. Pretty sure Ghost was him and a couple of others contributing, which that Discogs entry would seem to confirm. Top thread by the way lads

Not pleasant to have in your home, we had some a while back, one jumped from a height in the kitchen and virtually flew past my housemates head, v amusing but not ideal in the home. Luckily they just seemed to disappear, we think they must of been someone's pets that were recaptured. A good thing as we were about to bring out the glue traps. The constant scratching sounds in the wall really weren't desirable

Japanese Telecom is amazing... Gerald Donald should rightfully be a millionaire, guy is incredible

No mention of the new triple pack LP from Mala Digital Mystikz yet?! For shame WATMM! I love love LOVE the really 80's style synth splashes on this album... sounds like a bleaker, updated Bladerunner soundtrack with mountains of subbass... perhaps that's just me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gFtztSnWg8

Got to give props to Rephlex, they were on that sound really early, and exposed a whole new audience to that sort of music. I remember Grime 1 was certainly my introduction into the scene when it came out.

Yeah, Neptune's Lair just got repressed. Everyone, I mean EVERYONE who is on this forum should own it. Found it for about a tenner new online :)

Not Artful Dodger. Will post tomorrow when I'm more sober with some tunes I always play out

Increasingly coming to the opinion that this scene is just kind of creatively finished now... all the interesting people, aside from Mala et al, are more mongrel genre hoppers... it's not OVER as such.... but dubstep and what it's become is drained as fuck

Loved ATR but they should prob be left in the past... new single didn't do anything for me, and it's SEVEN MINUTES LONG. Good grief. ATR aren't the sort of band who can do that well! Saw them supporting NIN at the show they released that live noise album from. Was intense. There was scaffolding on the venue when we arrived, and as we entered I wondered why they were using heavy machinery when there was clearly a gig on. Quite surprising when we entered the main room, and the hellish subrumble white noise actually turned out to be ATR

I quite liked it! I've not really listened to NIN for years, but I thought that was pretty good. I don't really see the problem apart from easy pisstaking with them doing it, lots of couples jam and make music together Also Pro One and Arp in that last vid, nice!

Also... the Discogs wantlist feature is very helpful, every morning I like to have a quick scan through and you can get some real bargains with enough patience. Record Store Day killed me, one of my locals had a half price vinyl sale, so got some total bargains... Classics by AFX original press for a tenner, Queens of the Stone Age "Songs For The Deaf" on blue vinyl for £12.50 down from 25... 8 Diagrams by Wu new and sealed for a fiver... etc, etc
