Am I right to interpret that finger as saying "fuck you Russian Imperial beer, Pizza Hawai is my beer from now on"? Also, they spelt Hawaii wrong... unless this beer is brewed with pizza from a small town in Japan. -
Almost died picking up orders downtown after midnight. Guy sped through a red light as I was going through a green. Had I entered the intersection a second sooner he would have collided into the driver side, likely killing me. lol?

I was listening to one of my favourite metal bands in my van today, and decided to peruse the CD liner notes. The very first name mentioned in the thanks section is the dude whose facebook I was creeping on. I also added said metal band to my instagram a couple days ago, and one of the featured pics was the 2 of them hanging out... so it's definitely the same guy. Weeeeeeird/Synchronalicious. Not sure what I'm supposed to do with this. I guess maybe I'll check out one of his albums or something.

There's this celeb musician who keeps jumping onto political debates in my fb feed any time someone posts something he disagrees with. For some reason he's fb friends with a significant chunk of my musician friends... anyway, so I got curious what sort of shit ____ posts on his own fb feed. Unsurprisingly, more political posts + the expected musical ventures he's getting up to. On the most recent post, there's a comment from another more-obscure-but-still-celeb musician who a lot of people have compared my own music to in the past. Every time it gets brought up I mention hearing that comparison a fair bit, but have not gotten around to hearing their music yet. Anyway, my SFWP is that I'm creeping on the fb page of an artist I keep getting compared to. Though more accurately I just got sucked into some right vs left debate at the top of his page where things are very heated. Anyway, I feel dirty.

Yeah, I guess it's the pre-Heritage Opeth I want to see live. Ghost Reveries is the shit. Man, it's been a long time since I've listened to Opeth. I think a discog listening is in order. I actually haven't heard their last two albums - their latest prog offerings could be superior in every way for all I know.

Would love to see Opeth live at some point. Strapping Young Lad and Dethklok were both about as tight as humanly possible when I saw them (both times in the case of SYL)... come to think of it, they both had Gene Hoglan drumming, so that's not surprising. Devon Townsend is one of the most impressive live vocalists I've seen. His sing-scream is ludicrous. Best metal face too. *also, it boggles my mind how Gene Hoglan can stay so fat when his limbs are constantly moving at mach 10. Guy must eat like a Sumo wrestler.

Their riffs groove pretty hard though, so I expected they would be crazy tight live, and they were. Cannibal Corpse is less about the groove and more about speed/complexity. Whatever sounds like the musical equivalent of bodily mutilation. Makes sense if it's kind of messy.

I see what you did there. I actually can't imagine a band with riffs as whack as CC playing as a tight unit live. it's got to be sloppy as hell. Can't attest to it though.

It's gonna be a bummer when Tom Waits dies. I was listening to Orphans earlier today, and realizing what a rare niche in music his discog occupies. No one's going to even come close to filling that gap. I hear a lot of Prince and Bowie all over the place -no equivalents, but a lot of students at least trying to carry that torch. Waits doesn't have anyone to pass the baton to. A whole area of music will die with him.

I think I'd enjoy CC a lot more if they didn't have their vocals so upfront. Don't get me wrong, the gross out lyrics are a lot of fun... but you need the lyric sheet to really decipher them anyway, regardless of how loud they are, and they really do shift the focus away from the awesomeness of everything else. Like, that Frantic Disembowelment track was total perfection, and the title paints a pretty enough picture without Corpsegrinder needing to elaborate upon it. I'm curious who here would really miss the vocals if CC became an all instrumental band tomorrow.
