  1. "The Big Bang was pretty much the ultimate bass drop."
  2. Grand Theft Auto V is free on the Epic Game Store until 21-05-2020... ? It requires a 90 GB download / disk space.
  3. Playing Terraria (2D exploration survival-craft game) with the girlfriend in online co-op sitting next to each-other. ??? Nearing Pre-Hardmode. ? Highly recommended. ? Version 1.4 incoming next week. ?
  4. In Europe, a lot of Countries are starting to ease the lockdown measures as new cases decrease. Business owners welcome this, they want to make (more) money. People seem to be fed up with the lockdown. Governments should decide how many (sick, poor, elderly, and innocent) humans (=citizens) are worth the sacrifice. What can governments tolerate? What can the people tolerate? What can hyper-capitalists tolerate? It's a triumvirate. Smaller second wave incoming in about 1-2 weeks. Question is not if it will come, but when and how bad it will be. We will be slightly better prepared because most medical equipment is present. Immunity against covid-19 is still something we are not sure about. Covid-19-waves might be an ongoing thing for the foreseeable future. Maybe face-masks, distancing and hand-washing will be permanent. Mass-vaccination is still some time away. Hope the virus doesn't mutate too hard. Let's see how things enfold...
  5. Update In Belgium, some businesses that do not have direct contact with customers can now reopen. However, because of this, it is now mandatory to wear a facemask in places where social distancing is hard and/or impossible to realize: - on public transport - in school - in essential businesses that could have direct contact with co-workers and customers Facemasks are not yet mandatory to wear in public. Social distancing is still mandatory of course. Staying home inside is still encouraged. Doing some light exercising or walking is encouraged to keep body, spirit and mind fit. Going on holiday abroad remains prohibited. All restaurants, bars, and a lot of other non-essential high-risk businesses remain closed.

  7. The Breadwinner (2017) Ok 2D animation movie. Story is set in Afghanistan. Quite grim. "When her father is captured, a determined young girl disguises herself as a boy in order to provide for her family." Cartoon Saloon (Irish Animation Studio) also made: Song of the Sea (2014), and The Secret of Kells (2009), and co-made The Prophet (2014). Reminded me of Persepolis (2007).
  8. Very well explained. Recommended. For more info on CMB, Expansion, etc... watch the linked videos. PBS Space Time is one of my favourite scientific YouTube channels. Yes, real science on YouTube. Most of their videos are really worth watching. (except those on quantum stuff and non-standard theories, they're way too hard for me, lol)
  9. Klaus (2019) A great animated movie. Really beautiful 3D-2D-hybrid expressive drawing-style. Visuals are a bit like The Secret of Kells (2009) , The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993), and the work of Eyvind Earle (1916-2000). Nice spin on the Christmas story-theme and the Family-Feud story-theme. Actually good bits of humour. And way better than a lot of recent soulless Disney movies. Highly recommended.
  10. Sadly, seeing these protests "for freedom", it seems like more people in the USA are going to contract the virus. This is not the way to slow the spread of the virus, flatten the curve, and ease the strain on the hospitals and the health care workers. Because of these freedom-protesters, and the many dubious (amoral / unethical) actions taken by the head of state and government of the United States of America, more innocent, poor and elderly Americans will die. (maybe also some of the freedom-protesters) Even more sadly, a lot of this suffering could have been avoided or at least greatly diminished. i.e.: (some) American People (including their supreme leader) are amplifying the suffering of (other) American People. (and infuriatingly also indirectly increasing the suffering of other nations and other people in the world) The original cause is still the virus, but... its shifting rapidly towards a shared accountability. Why am I being so critical? Because the USA has had a self-imposed highly-influential leading role in the world for much of post-world-war history. Is the time of other (developing) nations looking upwards towards the USA as an (exemplary) prominent nation over? If so, a power vacuum might bring some chaos in the world. It has probably already been happening for quite a while though: The future seems more and more uncertain. Or, to quote a wise man, good old Yoda himself: "Always in motion, the future is." "The dark side clouds everything." "Impossible to see the light, the future is."
  11. 1. I find it so incredibly sad (and infuriating) to see some (brainwashed or overly patriotic?) people completely ignore (and even blatantly protest against) smart preventive countermeasures that benefit all, while Healthcare Workers are doing literally all they can to fight Coronavirus (COVID-19)... 2. All us humans have incredibly advanced brains, evolved over millions of years, but why are there (now, in the year 2020) still people (in highly developed countries) who do not seem to be schooled and/or raised more properly, not improving the potential of humankind's greatest trait (the brain)? 3. We seem to think so little ahead, ignoring the far future of the consequences of our actions. Sometimes, I lose my confidence in humanity as an intelligent responsible species. Maybe our education and/or upbringing is flawed? Maybe the organization of our society is flawed? Maybe we need a few more million years of evolution? Nevertheless, I do still carry the hope that humankind will strive for the better and reach higher and ever further.
  12. Aren't there way more countries with near-universal health care? Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, the Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Austria, Belgium, Japan, Spain,... Most of Europe seems to have near-universal health care.
  13. AlphaGo - Documentary "With more board configurations than there are atoms in the universe, the ancient Chinese game of Go has long been considered a grand challenge for artificial intelligence. On March 9, 2016, the worlds of Go and artificial intelligence collided in South Korea for an extraordinary best-of-five-game competition, coined The DeepMind Challenge Match. Hundreds of millions of people around the world watched as a legendary Go master took on an unproven AI challenger for the first time in history."
  14. Breaking News: We should ban the "Facepalm" reaction emoticon on WATMM, because it touches its face with its hands.
  15. The Belgian Security Council has decided to implement new drastic measures against Covid-19 starting tomorrow-evening: • Closing all: schools, bars, clubs, restaurants. • Shops must close in weekends. • Only food stores and pharmacists are allowed to stay open. • Not allowed to visit elderly care centers. • Cancelling all: cultural events, sport events, or other events with lots of people. • Public transport remains available, but is discouraged. • Older people are encouraged to stay at home. Not yet a full lock-down, but I'm glad the Belgian government is taking action.
  16. Since a few days ago the virus is now in my city, Mechelen, Belgium. There are now 314 confirmed cases of the virus in Belgium. It's very clear to me my government (and any other government in Europe for that matter) does waaay to little in preventing the spread of the virus and informing its citizens. Until a few days ago people could just travel from North-Italy to anywhere in Europe without being tested or being put in quarantine. In Italy the virus is completely out of control. France and Span will follow soon if they keep doing what they're doing now. The Germanic and Nordic countries might have a better response and/or better health infrastructure in place, but that's just guessing at this time. Utter Incompetence, is what I call the way we all handle this epidemic. Me and my gf have taken precautions. We read all the notes on how to prevent infection, and applied them as best as possible. However, alcoholic hand sanitizer (and masks) were already all sold-out everywhere. Also the gf works at a local pub. (which increases our chance of infection unfortunately) Also we have to walk the dog every day. We are both in relative healthy condition and still young, so chance of a severe infection is rather low, but it's best to prevent spreading it further if we do get infected. This weekend we have to go to 2 large family-gatherings, but I'm thinking it would be better to just cancel them, in order to not have the possibility to infect older and less healthy family-members. Anyway, as of this moment, things are still somewhat in control in Belgium.
  17. lol (how dubstep went down the shitter, amiright) (I unsubscribed from PBS Sound Field a while ago, and I'm glad I did)
  18. Architect, but don't work / have a job at the moment. (not on welfare or anything) Will start applying for a job soon again. Maybe not in Architecture though. Too much stress, staleness and paperwork on my previous Architecture job. The one before that was more fun though. (until I started accepting extra work independently) Problem is , I don't really know what I actually want to do. (disappointed in Architecture) I do some small Art jobs from time to time in between, mostly for fun.
