Ceephax has been doing a lot of minimal 303 stuff for a while but it was just before analord that he was making more pop like music with them instead of straight up acid techo. people will disagree because its more fun to think that RDJ is free of influences, especially those of his fellow music making friend's brother. I would also argue Urban Tribe's approach has some influence on RDJ as well, specifically the releases before analord such as - Covert Action / Low Berth 12". Also I think Atom Heart could have had a small influence also with his release - Atom™ - Acid Evolution 1988 - 2003 can be found here - http://www.discogs.com/release/667123 or listen here - http://www.bleep.com/current_item.php?selection=LOG045_DM i actually prefer this last release to any of the analords (with the exception of 10) personally. discuss... Mr.Fingers - Amnesia http://www.discogs.com/release/4518 you are right - as it has been there before it is like afx stealing the sound and adding some more breakish beat really interessting yeah people seem to get distracted with the fact analord was all analouge gear, which was nice..but so was the fingers lp (or most if not all 85+ acid/house trax) but that never gets mentioned, also amnesiac had absolutly no 303 and was still as squeltchy as anyother acid house tracks from that time not as if its a big deal anyways.. just a point im not saying afx ripped anything off at all from amnesiac..its obvious richard is a fan of larry heard (or at least his early stuff(who isnt?(i had a LH dedication trak on my 12"))) and no doubt other producers from back in the day: tyree cooper, armando, adonis, chip-e, dj pierre, liddell townsell, eddie smith, mike dunn, robert armani, farley JM Funk, lil louis. and the list goes on maybe throw in the entire roster of D.J. International Records as well, why not?. I would be glad if analord in some part analord was influenced by these guys. But lets face Larry Heard is flawless in his production quality, and to me to listen to amnesiac and then an analord volume it has the same taste and warmth (im not even talking about the stupid analouge vs digital bullshit) you can hear the (i'll go out on a limb here and put this in reverse, if you know what i mean for the strictly afx fans?)
