Yes, check out this review, I mean basically this is the first true 70mm transfer to Blu-ray that can match the original format, 8k scan and all. The DVD to show to everyone. Man those screenshots are amazing (my DVD version sucks compared to that

Oh if you like that kind of movies, there is a website called http://www.spiritofbaraka.com/ :) I didn't even know that Ron Fricke is doing a NEW movie called "Samsara". Fuck yeah!

yeah i agree with Ebert's quote on the back, it is literally the best looking video release i have ever seen in my life

i know all too well, so well that i've been hearing news of Samsara for over 10 years. It seems to be in production limbo right now, but maybe im wrong

Was recently watching The Fall which seemed to borrow scenes directly from this film.

yeah what the hell is with this movie? why did David Fincher and SPike Jonez put their name on this POS?

The Fall was one of the most unimpressive movies i have seen in a while, and far less entertaining/interesting than the Cell (which was kind of a crap movie besides the visuals)

there is an underrated non narrated documentary movie directed by Ron Fricke called 'Chronos' that is on Blue-ray and also looks amazing, not as ridiculous as Baraka but pretty close.

ridiculously beautiful... but my cynicism gland was tingling for parts - how much the 'indigenous' people were made to play for the camera etc.

you must have a hell of a time watching discovery channel, meaning your cynicism gland would be off the charts for most of the time the channel was beeming into your eyeballs

wow, this is pretty nice. no surprise youtube was predicted to lose half a billion dollars this year in bandwidth fees..

much love to the person who uploaded the whole thing, even if there's a few parts without sound due to WMG.

I am so buying this as soon as I've got a worthy display source to view it on.

mh, thank god for life-ish (yes it is pretty dark/true at times).

but i don't really think the point was to show some kind of new agey coffeehouse outlook on various indigenous peoples. i understand the cynicism, i actually was cynical about this myself and had stayed away from it for a long time, but then i read roger ebert's review and came across the blu ray at best buy and figured, what the hell. the movie has a power to it that i haven't seen before on film, really.

i wont hesitate to go with you on that one but the soundtrack in particular would convey otherwise.

well, unfortunately music from other parts of the world has a certain connotation to it, now, that is synonymous with "world" music or whatever, so i can also see where you're coming from. i felt like the music worked most of the time but there were certainly parts where i cringed a bit.
