So apparently dimlite has signed to Now Again Records (Stones Throw) and according to the announcement, is going to release something this spring. There's a free track available for download too (it's a cover of something, not bad, though a bit short). Looking forward to this!

Dimlite - Prismic Tops (Andy, can you update the title?)

It’s finally here: Dimlite’s long-awaited Prismic Tops EP. The Swiss beatsmith’s latest – his first venture into the realm of – gasp! – singer/song(beat?)writing is coming in digital, CD and LP format this week. Packaged in thick chipboard “tip on” jackets, these pieces are a sight to behold and the music is, of course, staggering. Grab a sample below, buy the album in whatever format you wish, get ready for our worldwide release date of May 4th and stay tuned for more Dimlite news.

artwork, awesome.

EP, what? I thought this was going to be an LP.

singer/song(beat?)writing, eh. hmm.

Coming this week, or May 4th? Maybe it's digital this week, physical May 4th. The above is still contradictory though.

Guess I'll head over and check out the samples.

Sounds pretty cool from the 30-second clips. Only track you can hear vocals on is #7, sounds alright, not enough to really tell how it'll feel on the EP as a whole. But I'm looking forward to it.

Pricey for an EP though.

I think it might be available exclusively though Stones Throw right now and then everywhere else May 4. I love Stones Throw/Now-Again as much as any label but their site is always so expensive- $14.98 + shipping for a cd ep? Isn't usually cheaper to order directly from the label in most cases?

Hey did you guys know there's a free track from the new EP here? 'Elbow Flood'

:cisfor:

Yeah, pretty good- the vocals sound interestingly weird. Not really a straight ahead soul, rapping or singer-songwriter vibe, which is cool.

They also posted

this track on the Now-Again site which is pretty damn good.

I've only recently gotten into his stuff, but it's all great. He's really got an original sound and puts a lot of thought into arrangement.

Wow these samples have got me real seriously pumped for this. This shit is fantastic! Really diggin the vocals. One of my favorite Dimlite tracks has always been Back To The Universe Pt. 1, so I'm seriously glad he's using more vocals.

I agree, his vox are strangely catchy (I haven't really heard anything similar). I just ordered Runbox Weathers, great stuff!

Interesting that he was doing the sound that a lot of people are doing now five years ago or earlier. Hopefully he'll get a little more attention here in the States with this latest release.

I was getting ready to order this from Stone's Throw (even though Amazon dropped it's price from $17.98 to $15.98) because they have it now instead of May 4. BUT. $6 for shipping a CD from LA to Seattle?! Seriously? Fuck you.

Guess I'll wait.

rump studies + kalimba deathswamp/kurt feelings are trac's worth mentioning straight off - the rest of the album

may take some time to evaluate properly. seems eventually i will sink into most of it.
