no doubt they will never out this actor, and if he infected any female actresses, they will no doubt stay hiiden as well, so they can still dance for a living without the stigma of being infected. expect some early "retirements" soon.

http://healthland.time.com/2010/09/26/study-20-of-homosexual-men-are-hiv-positive-but-only-half-know-it/

Recent data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) show that 1 in 5 sexually active gay and bisexual men in America are HIV-positive but that 44% of them don't know it.

More than 8,000 self-identifying gay and bisexual men (or, as the researchers call them, MSM, for men who have sex with men) were tested by CDC workers in the 21 American cities with the highest infection rates. The gay population in Baltimore had the highest rates of HIV infection, at 38%, while Atlanta scored lowest, at 6%.

I thought they had to be tested everytime they did a shoot?

Yes the porn industry is the best regulated industry in the united states i'm sure nobody is on drugs during a film shoot

this would probably be impractical unless there is a cheap way to do it onsite. I think that most porn actors working for big companies are just required to get an HIV test once every quarter of a year. Could be wrong on that but im pretty sure it's not before every shoot. Also what about testing for other stds like herpes? Is it just assumed that if you've worked in porn you have genital herpes?

Yeah herpes obviously is going to be an occupational hazard. Body fluids aside i can easily associate cocaine with the porn industry but the use of heroin and sharing needles seems a bit dark

In a story Oct. 12 about a porn actor testing positive for HIV and previous stories, The Associated Press reported erroneously, based on comments from porn industry professionals, that under U.S. law, adult film actors are required to test negative for HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases within 30 days of going to work on a film. However, health officials now say there is no requirement for such testing under federal or state worker-safety regulations. The incorrect reference to HIV tests was in AP stories about the porn industry on Aug. 26, June 28, March 18, Aug. 20, 2009 and June 11-12, 2009.

A question - though I understand quite a bit about HIV/AIDS, I've never fully understood the way it infects someone through sex. For example, how exactly does it infect the man, assuming there's no blood present? Easiest point of entry to mucous membranes and whatnot would be through the pee-hole, right? So would you be able to create a small pee-hole plug that would reduce (but obviously not eliminate) risk? That might help the porn industry, since apparently no-one likes watching the guy wear a condom.

(lol)

edit: even if they test on every shoot it still wouldn't stop the risk. The body has to build up enough antibodies to show as positive, takes weeks. So there's a window(typically they say one month) when you could be infected but test negative.

i bet with certain body mods, such as a PA, you could design jewelery that may inhibit peehole openness.

though at the same time i'd probably rather wear/see a rubber than risk an hiv infection. even though i fucking hate condoms.

Take a trip into sex from the perspective of the micrometer. What feels lovely and lubed to you is still shearing forces of unbelievable magnitude whereby cells in the millions are violently ripped away in progressive layers. At this level, HIV is like a little spiky marble tumbling around. A cut or abrasion to the eye is frank and bloody. With genitalia, the distance between the nearest capillary and the surface is literally a few cell layers thick so there could be literally thousands of microscopic breeches of the simple squamous epithelium and microscopic and mutual bleeding is happening with every thrust and the spiky marble tumbles to and fro between open sources. It's almost like tennis--where is the ball going to land though?

you need to hire a full time cgi artist to do graphics for your posts. reads like an episode of CSI.

If the men don't know about it, how would the CDC?

"In a study of 21 major U.S. cities in 2008, MSM had high levels of HIV infection, and many of those infected with HIV

did not know it.

Overall, one in five MSM participating in the study was infected (19 percent). While MSM of all races and ethnicities

were severely affected, black MSM were particularly impacted.

Among those who were infected, nearly half (44 percent) were unaware of their HIV status. Young MSM and MSM of

color were least likely to know they were infected."
