Heading over on the weekend of the 8th January.

Anyone got a good hotel recommendation? Was told on another site that London hotels on the pricey side and not necessarilt that good, so best to stick to the standards like Premier Inn or Best Western.

And best club? Again, general reaction seems to be Fabric. What's best for house or deep house?

Don't know anything about hotels, Plastic People is a good club to look out for but their website is a bit shit so I don't know if there is anything going on that weekend.

I would not recommend Fabric at all if you're looking for deep house nights, everytime I went to see house/deep-house DJs they end up playing harder stuff (even in room 3) and I left disappointed + it's expensive, the queue is massive, it's often too packed.

Coalbucket PI is right, Plastic People is cool. Try XOYO as well. Sometimes, they have really good nights at the Basement (CAMP) in Old street too.

Check also Village Underground, they sometimes have good parties there too.

The Hoxton hotel it great, rooms are excellent, the restaurant is very good too and it's quite popular for pre-parties drinks as well. Also they have £1 room offers regularly (check their website for T&Cs)

There are also cheaper options, such as Travelodge, allover London.

Maybe check the expedia website and see what offers they have?

Thanks for pointers on clubs.

As for hotels, guess budget is £100 or so a night anyway.

Tried the Hoxton, but it is booked out.

If the Hoxton is booked out try https://www.malmaison.com?

That's a notoriously dead weekend in London but check as dontstayin.com http://www.datatransmission.co.uk/ and etc/ see whats on at Corsica/ Cable/ Eastern Electrics/ The Guardian Guide has a great clubbing guide on the week. Fuck Fabric. Don't go to any weekly, find summin special. √

It would make things much easier for me if you would all go away and confer, and come back with one club and one hotel...

But thanks for all the pointers. Gonna let the wife choose the hotel. But will let you know who she agrees with! Course that may also dictate the likeliest club to go to. Think I'm gonna draw a line through Fabric though.

For deep house.. I'd check out the 'Warm' nights at plastic people... also more recently at Corsica.

Get some good deep stuff there, like... Move D, Mark E etc, etc, etc... pretty solid.

Reference to another thread, you could watch Stewart Lee then Jerry Sadowitz in the same venue straight after.

Edit: The Stewart Lee show is very funny, second half he comes across very warm, like Jasper Carrot or Dave Allen

Ended up with some hotel in Aldgate. Was warned that it's a bit arsy/trendy around there. Not fond of clubs where business types stand around and compare mobile phones. Anything recommended?

I recommend the Alibi in Dalston for a club. No idea what is on that weekeend (a google search might throw something up), but I saw Remarc there a few months back and everyone went mental for the jungle. Was a good atmosphere and free to get in.
