Hi everyone, as of a few days ago, i decided to stop trying to come up with my own music, because to be honest i just wasn't getting anywhere.

I like to think I'm still learning, and so i made the choice to do some sketches of autechre's music. under no circumstances do i proclaim this piece my own. Yes all midi and mixing was done by me, but the idea was not.

when i was growing up, i was obsessed with drawing, and i would do studies of great paintings, so i guess thats how i like to think of this. I figured it could only give me some insight and ideas that i could use later on.

So i'de like to share this short track, please excuse my poor attempt at mixing sounds and compression and all that technical stuff, any advise, ideas and/or constructive criticism as to where i can take this particular piece would be much appreciated.

cheers.

i think the issue with something like that is really your intent. doing a remix and labeling it thusly is fine. doing a MIDI version could be okay (i've seen the 8-Bit versions of metal tracks and the like, something like this could be similar), or doing an interpretation of the track is okay too. this seems to fall into the last category the most, so looking at it like that; i can see the similarities to the original, but the complexities of the original are not present in this. that's not entirely a bad thing, simplifying a track like LCC could be a good thing, especially knowing that there's really no taking it the other direction. but maybe this wasn't simplified/re-imagined quite enough? i'd suggest maybe playing with the structuring of the track. the pads on the intro are surprisingly interesting, and the layering of beats in the first half is rather similar to the original track, which is good. i can't even imagine how long it took to replicate some of that drum work. that being said, the drums in the second half fall flat. maybe try adding something/taking something away to emphasize the groove. let us hear what you come up with though, the idea of re-imagining AE is something i've never much considered, but it seems an interesting venture. good luck!

I will take everything under account and keep in touch with it. "the idea of re-imagining AE" - that statement has made my day. thanks man.
