Grand Theft Auto

Been playing GTA IV lately with my bro. Forgot how fun this game was. Came to the conclusion that it's probably one of the best dick around games out there. Been trying to figure out which is better, San Andreas or IV; both are great in their own ways.

A lot of my friends don't like the games, what do you guys think of them?

not sure if i'll ever have the same experience with gta as gta3, but san andreas came close. almost the perfect game in retropsect. gta4 is good, but they could've added way more fun shit instead of being a taxi driver.

also cops are too easy and dumb in 4

i'm getting saints row when the price drops, the huge dildo as a weapon and person-launching car look fun.

No love for the original top-down game? That's the only one I enjoyed enough to finish.

I tried IV but it was a bit ridiculous. Though that might be because my laptop isn't fast enough to run it very well.

Actually, I feel like 4 has the smartest cops. In San Andreas they literally stand in a firing line just shooting at you. In 4 they hide behind car doors, steal civilian cars to chase you, try to flip you, and box you in with their cars. It's actually kinda creepy how they outsmart me at times

i just picked up a copy of gta: chinatown wars for DS and it's actually really good.

not on the same level as any of the console games but surprisingly deep for a handheld thinger.

downside: only has 4 radio stations, one of which is the deadmau5 channel.

gta4 was amazing. loved everything about it.

rather annoying, considering that the Android/iOS version of GTA 3 (which happens to be a straight port of the PC version) actually includes all the radio stations, in full, and the entire game manages to clock in at around 570MB

well technically they are the smartest in the gta series but it's really not challenging to get away from them with 3-5 stars. 6 is sort of hard but even then it's not too bad. it's pretty easy to predict what they're going to do while driving. and they just jog around slowly til they find some cover if out of the car.

edit - only reason i'm bitching about this is because it was a challenge in gta3 to get away from 4-5 stars. maybe i just wasn't as good at gta but it seems too easy now.

Damn, "easy to get away on 5 stars," you must be pretty good. I find it challenging to just get out of the radius without cops seeing me and the radius centering on me again. I have to say though, that the old games were a bit harder to escape because you couldn't see where the cops were looking

GT3 is definitely my favorite if only for the dnb station. IV is really good too. I love the 80s music in Vice City.

Of any of the Rockstar games, Red Dead Redemption is my favorite.

San Andreas is my favorite game of all time.

San Andreas most likely had the best music. ALL DAT FUNK. Also, the alt. rock station was good

hahaha you got to be joking, Vice City had there best soundtrack of any GTA games.

I have many, many fond memories of dicking about with GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas. Playing them with my brother/friends, with the in-game music muted and blasting music. Absolutely agree on it being one of the best dick around games ever.

Ballad of Gay Tony is also amazing.

That game is straight up Vice City / San Andreas style ridiculousness over the seriousness of GTA 4. (GTA 4 which is also good once you get into it. I have no idea what they were thinking making the first half of the game this chore driven bore.)

I played GtA IV before going to Nyc, when I got there it was pretty strange I passed by some common places and I was always like "I'm sure I killed people right here"

i put a bunch of sultan rs cars at some safehouses in gta iv and i tend to drive around as fast as i can and see how long i can go without crashing and killing stuff. or i'll see how long i can get police cars behind me. i guess it's a quick fix arcade sort of thing at some point.

that happens with most of these gta games, i'll beat it to unlock the maps and then just drive around. in vice city i was hung up on bike tricks at the airport.

is there a way to avoid a wanted level at the gta iv airport?

Aye, GTA 1 was loads of fun, you can legally download it for free for PC and it's still a fun game.

In GTAIV they held back on the type and number of vehicles for the next game, which was very annoying in a Matrix 2&3 kind of way. Why didn't they make the best game that they could? Money etc and their business, OK I get it, hehe. The single player game is completely boring, yet another story about sex and drugs and gangsterism etc, nothing new there. What's great though is COPS AND CROOKS in multiplayer mode. one team are police and the other are the bad guys and it gets really competitive. one of the bad guys is the boss and he's special because if the police kill him then you lose. this often forces players to work together, ride in the same cars and shoot the six foot flaming jesus out of the enemy's car. There are plenty of close shaves where you get to the escape helicopter right before someone shoots it with an rpg or you get to the boat and the enemy boat crashes into you and flips you over, losing the game. It's great because it can be slightly dramatic without any scripted drama, the world and vehicles are there and the rules of the game are clear so all the drama comes from the players. It would totally suck slimy hermit balls if they left out cops and crooks from gtaV.

I was really digging Red Dead but when I got to Mexico I just completely lost interest in the game.

A friend and I were fairly obsessed with GTA2, MSPainting terrible vehicles and tweaking their handling in nyc.gci :')

Don't think I'll ever stop wondering how the street I'm walking down could fit into a mission, were it in one of the games.

The music in GTA 3 is so nostalgic for me, especially the pop stations, Lips 106, Head Radio, etc. But out of all the GTA games, Vice City still remains my favorite
