Are you on a specific page? there are certain types of gifs that slow down any computer regardless of their performance. I've got 32gb ram, 2 gtx690 video cards, etcetecetcetc and they still slow down my computer lol.

It's Chrome and gifv compatibility I think (although it only seems to be embedded gifvs because opening them in a new tab of their own seems to be fine). No more cute pictures thread for me until Google sort their shit out :(

Aye I've definitely had performance issues with any of the pictured themes (tomorrow's harvest etc.) so have always stuck with the classic theme. Stopped the annoying flashing every time it'd load another page too (a brief frame or two where the background seemed to have to reload again)

think joyrex set it up so images only load when you scroll down rather than preloading / caching

in theory it would make page loads quicker but instead it means i have to fucking scroll down to look at photos which slows my browser down

Changing skin was the first thing I did, doesn't solve the issue for me. It's not just on WATMM either it's elsewhere too. It's gifvs and Chrome. Fuck gifvs.

Even if I do a Google image search for 'gifv' and expand an image so it starts playing while it's still embedded in the image search page everything grinds to a halt. Open the image in it's own tab without it being embedded and it's fine.
